OSRR: 3035
every thanksgiving for the last twelve years, i've had a panic attack.
i did not have one today.
i didn't force myself to do things i was too overwhelmed for when there were people around. i cut off some stimulation when i felt one was coming on. and then i was snapped out of it because i was asked to read a book to the family. doing that puts me in a different headspace than what i usually am in at family occasions like this, it's more of like a work mode than anything. it was a nice change of pace.
and i was actually able to enjoy my food this year.
of course, every year it ends up being my job to clean up the table and put things away and do the dishes before the end of the night, but this time my papa was asked to do so.
he has bad legs and has been having problems managing his pain lately, so i told him to go sit and i was able to take over for him. i put away the food, i cleaned the dishes, i ran the dishwasher twice and hand washed everything else, i took out the trash, i cleaned off the table, i put the aprons and the table covers onto the washing machine, i swept the floor, i scrubbed the counters, i hand washed and dried the silver, and i put away everything that i could and organized the things i couldn't put away.
i was cleaning for four hours.
but the kitchen is spotless. it doesn't look like it's been in use since before 6 this morning, and it certainly doesn't look like it's been the center of cooking and baking for almost a week. there's no external evidence of a 35-pound turkey or 15 pounds of potatoes or 10 pounds of green beans or three pies and two cakes or 12 people. no evidence except for stacks of clean dishes that are waiting for their companions to be put away.
the one bad thing is that i had to take my brace off. i don't like doing that a lot. i like to take the brace off for a minute or two to let it breathe, and i often get barked at by my mother about taking off my brace too much, but not a single goddamn thing is said when i take it off for hours and do lots of manual labor. nothing. silence. it's like she expects me to only be disabled when it's convenient for her and to not be disabled when she needs help.
but also, my poor dad was going to suffer because of her inconsideration, so i bit the bullet and let my papa take a break. he watched the football game.
someday i hope my kids are kind to me when i'm old and in pain.
anyway, the day was long but it was fine. ultimately, i was okay. the exhaustion is real, though, which is expected. i'm excited to pass out.
one last sad thing is i didn't get to see joel today. broken hand means no driving, so that was a :c for me today. i hope to see him soon. i miss the joel.

hoshi; vowels and veracity (m)
summary: after a blind date that makes you feel like a giddy teenager all over again, youâre forced to grow up and take a chance when you realize that special someone is your daughterâs kindergarten teacher. pairing: teacher!soonyoung x single mother!reader genre/warnings: fluffity fluff nuggets, humor, a lil bit of angst when yn panics, *steve rogers voice* language! alcohol, unprotected sex (wrap the pickle before u tickle), face sitting w/c: 5.2k a/n: i really have nothing to say about this but iâve been thinking about going back to school all week so this manifested. enjoy a lil sexy but sweet hoshđÂ
âY-you,â another giggle and the press of wet lips to the sensitive spot of your neck, âstop, Soonyoung! Iâm ticklish there!âÂ
You feel a pout imprint itself in the sweet spot between your ear and your jaw, and you sigh at the rumble of his lips against your skin, âBut you taste so sweet, baby,â he croons, and youâre practically melting between the door with how much Soonyoung has pressed himself against you, all of himself.Â
âWhat if I donât wanna stop, pretty girl?â he husks against your soft skin, whispering things in your ear that arenât for the faint of heart. In your haste to keep a firm grip, one hand goes to his clothes and the other nips at the undercut of his midnight black hair, âwhat if I just open the door right now and we slip right in, and then I slip right in you?âÂ
Your breath hitches and suddenly your core feels like a timebomb, ready to combust.Â
Go on a date, Joshua says. Heâs a sweet guy, Joshua says. Heâs a friend of Joshuaâs, so you know going into this blind date that at the very least, he wasnât a serial killer. But what Joshua failed to tell you going into this was how much Kwon Soonyoung packed and how much of a temptor in disguise he is.Â
âI really would love to invite you in,â it looks like it pains Soonyoung to admit this, as he presses his forehead to yours and the edge of his fingers dig into your crushed emerald velvet number, âbut tomorrowâs the first day of work and I am not emotionally prepared. But, I do want to see you again. I had a great time.âÂ
The previous mood melting into the night sky, you reluctantly let go of the lapels of his tweed blazer. Unable to suppress your crestfallen smile you nod, âThatâs fine,â you reply, inching away from him to send him a pointed look, âI wouldnât have gone inside anyway. I donât put out on the first date,â you cross your arms in an attempt to feign nonchalance. Â
Which isnât a lie, although if Soonyoung had asked you two minutes ago to come inside for a cup of tea, you wouldnât have argued. He is just that tempting. Said date raises an eyebrow in response, tucking a strand of loose hair behind your ear at the defiance in your eyes. âOh?â he echoes, âthen what date do you put out?âÂ
âDate seven.âÂ
âLucky seven,â he grins, âso if we go on a date every day this week by Friday we should be good to go. How do you feel about steak?âÂ
You slap his shoulder in his response, and the giggle that erupts from his lips in response has you feeling dizzy and giddy with excitement. Soonyoung has you feeling like a college freshman all over again, floating like Cloud 9 and drunk in anticipation. You peck one, two more kisses on his lips. He tastes like the peach champagne you shared and his own scent as he pulls you in for a much longer, much hotter kiss.Â
âGood luck on your first day,â you mumble against his lips, vaguely remembering that heâs a teacher in a school nearby.Â
âMm, text me when you get home,â and with a final kiss to your forehead he unlocks his door, leaving you warm and full of heart-eyes on his front porch.Â
The walk home, more like float home, has you feeling all parts exhausted and hopeful for the days to come. For the first time in a long time you feel young and unbridled, thrumming with excitement. Now youâre just playing with your phone, waiting to exchange goodnight texts.Â
âNariâs asleep,â when you walk into your shared apartment, you spot a sleepy Seungkwan on his laptop and sprawled across your couch. âHow was it?âÂ
âIt was reealllly nice,â youâre still a little wine tipsy, drunk on the taste of Merlot and a certain someoneâs kisses, âhe was really sweet, and surprisingly sexy.âÂ
âDid you get dicked down?â Seungkwan asks only the most important questions.Â
You scoff, flopping down on the couch next to him, âAs if, we have work in the morning.âÂ
âSpeaking of work, are you sure youâre not able to drop off Nari to school tomorrow? Itâs her first day of kindergarten.âÂ
âI canât,â saying it feels absolutely awful, but a single mother has to work extra hard to keep her and her daughter happy.Â
âItâs fine,â Seungkwan easily waves you off and runs a hand through his fluffy auburn hair, âher favorite Uncle is there, anyway.âÂ
âHey,â you lightly punch his arm, âIâve already talked Nari through it. Iâm cooking a big breakfast tomorrowâchocolate chip pancakes, duh, and taking a million pictures before we have to part ways. I packed a little Kit-Kat for her lunch with a sweet note. When I come back in time for dinner I promised her pizza from her favorite parlor and she can tell me everything about her day.âÂ
âSo, youâre bribing her with food.âÂ
âSue me, itâs every parentâs weak spot.âÂ
Seungkwan stretches his arms, cradling you between his chest. You sigh into his clean linen scent, feeling sleepy. âYeah, Iâve bribed her with my Switch once or twice,â he admits softly, eyes also drooping, âbut youâre a great mother regardless. Donât worry, Iâll take care of everything tomorrow.âÂ
âThanks, Kwannie,â you sigh, feeling more at ease.Â
Nari is the light of you and Seungkwanâs life. Five years ago, you promised yourself that if you were more than financially stable and still sick with baby fever, you would adopt. You didnât want to find a romantic partner for the sole purpose of having a child, you could easily do that on your own. And that you did, you researched and visited foster homes off in the countryside.Â
In a little town off the coast of the shore was where you met Nari, only six months old and full with cherub cheeks and eyes that sparkled like the moon and stars. You fell in love with her instantly. Fast forward five years later and sheâs the reason you wake up every morning and work hard every day. Seungkwan being your best friend, also wanted rights as the godfather and therefore is also part of your perfect family picture.Â
You and Seungkwan sleep warmly tonight, both excited to share yet another year of Nariâs milestones.Â
âAnd then Mr. Kwon said I was an âaceâ with my vowels!â Nari has a string of cheese hanging from her chin, and you donât bat an eye as you reach to pat it away with a napkin.Â
âI wouldnât expect any less, baby,â you coo, carding a hand through her hair so her bangs donât get caught in her meal, âremember when mommy and Uncle Kwannie taught you the vowels this summer? We sang that song.âÂ
âYes! I sang the same song and showed everyone how âta do it,â your heart is swelling with pride, and you fight the urge to tear up because Seungkwanâs already showing signs of waterworks from his side of the table, âI read a book Mr. Kwon gave me today and he said heâs so impressed I read at a Level B.âÂ
You quirk your brows at the new jargon. You certainly donât know what it means to be a Level B, but it makes Nari happy and thatâs all that matters. Wiping the orange grease off her lips, you muse that you must get in contact with her teacher one of these days.
âWhatâs a Level B?â Seungkwan similarly looks stumped at the new vocabulary.Â
âI donât know!â Nari shrugs, but nevertheless her teacherâs attention has her glowing.Â
You giggle, âIâm so happy for you, baby.âÂ
âIâm excited to go back tomorrow, I made a new friend! His name is Jeonghan and he helped me with my numbers today. He called my bows cute.âÂ
âCute?â Seungkwan perks up from his stupor, âof course youâre cute, Nari. So cute that youâre too good for this Jeonghwan boy.âÂ
âJeonghan, Uncle Kwannie,â she pouts when Seungkwan scoffs, in favor of shoving half a slice in his mouth. She turns to you, tugging on your blazer, âMama, can I go watch TV now? I finished my homework and I wanna see the new Ladybug and Cat Noir!âÂ
âOf course,â you pull away her plate, gesturing for her to go to the living room.Â
âThank you mama,â and sheâs bouncing off her seat, pushing her chair in and off to watch Miraculous Ladybug.Â
You sigh, âThey grow up so fast.âÂ
Seungkwanâs eyes widen at your age-old phrase, the words reminding him oddly of his parents when they used to talk down to him. âAnd here we are, aging twice as fast,â Seungkwan bemoans, already starting to feel the greasy food settle in his stomach. âWe used to eat a whole pie! We could eat absolute garbage back in college and here I am weak at two slicesâoh my god, am I having a âback in my dayâ moment? We need to go out. I need to go out. Iâve been practicing consonants and vowels all day. I need a boyfriend,â he playfully narrows his eyes at you, âI need a boyfriend like yours, sweet and sexy.âÂ
âSorry,â you stick out your tongue, âbut heâs mine.âÂ
Perfect timing, Soonyoungâs name pops up on your phone. You two have been texting sporadically throughout the day, making plans for your next date. The two of you are going to watch a drive-in movie, a situation that screams teenage-back-of-the-truck-sex but the movie is a much anticipated favorite of yours and you genuinely want to watch it.Â
Soonyoung is full of humor and laughs, getting you to smile and relax at the right times during work and always manages to keep you on your toes whenever he says something flirtatious.Â
âAre you gonna introduce him to Nari?âÂ
You stop typing, and look up towards your beautiful little girl in the living room. Her hair is out of her pigtails, drooping tiredly like she is. Her cheek is pressed against her favorite plush cat, fighting for consciousness because sheâs waiting for Marinette to save the day. Your heart swells with affection.Â
âDunno,â you shrug, trying not to think too hard about it, âweâre not that serious right now.âÂ
Youâre absolutely winded. You finished work early today, due to the fact that came in early so you could clock out and pick Nari up from school. Despite the fact that Nari says itâs okay for you not to pick her up, you canât allow it and you want to be the one who she runs into when she comes out the door.Â
âWho do you think sheâs gonna hug first?â Seungkwanâs elbowing you, baiting you. âBecause this morning she gave me a hug and three kisses before I dropped her off.âÂ
âThree?â you seethe in annoyance, âthree kisses is our thing! Two on the cheek and one on the forehead!âÂ
The two of you slowly steep together, waiting for the colorful blue door to the kindergarten area to file out. The heel of your shoes are digging into the grass, probably making a needle-like indentation in the dirt as you struggle not to seep into the lawn. You feel like youâre going to flop on your heels, wishing you could go run back into the car and find your flip-flops from last monthâs beach trip. But before you could debate on the run the bell rings, and youâre on livewire when you see the students start to file out.Â
Your smile grows ten-fold when you see Nariâs jaw drop in surprise, seeing you waiting for her. She fists whatever is in her hands in surprise, breaking into the cutest smile as she screams, âmama!âÂ
And youâre ready to hold your arms out and throw her around in circles, until you see who follows right behind her.Â
Kwon Soonyoung is Nariâs kindergarten teacher. Kwon Soonyoung with his hair down and untextured, wearing a mint polo and looking nothing like the date you had the other night. He looks absolutely soft and so, you are weak.Â
Kwon Soonyoung, the sexy deviant who sends you questionable texts and sends you funny puppy videos, is staring right at you and utterly confused when Nari rams straight into your hip.Â
Momentarily distracted, you pepper your pretty daughter in kisses (all three of them, two cheeks and one forehead) and tell her how much youâve missed her. Clearly she doesnât miss you as much, as sheâs waving around a picture she drew during playtime, one of her and Jeonghan in the sandbox.Â
âReally, Nari,â Seungkwan mutters under his breath, shamelessly vocalizing his opinion on a five-year old, âcanât you choose a different friend?âÂ
âSeungkwan!â you chide, but he pointedly annoys you when Nari finally enters Seungkwanâs embrace. He takes extra time to cuddle her, obviously jealous that another boy has taken refuge in your little Nariâs heart.Â
The moment is so sweet and simple you have no choice but to revel in it and take out your phone to snap a photo.Â
âMama!â she pops her head off of Seungkwanâs shoulder, âcome meet Mr. Kwon!â
And sheâs tugging your hand, only youâre much stronger and you stay firmly planted on the grass. Heck, you even sacrifice your shoes by digging your heels in for extra measure.Your eyes widen in panic, but Nari doesnât notice because sheâs paving a path of dirt with her lime green light-up sneakers, trying to get you to move. You nearly forgot your latest tryst is your daughterâs teacher, and you never told him you have a kid.Â
But within seconds, thereâs an audible slam and the three of you are shattered from your bubble. Turning to the noise the heavy navy door is now locked shut, all the students dismissed for the day. The crowd is gone. Soonyoung is gone.Â
Seungkwanâs eyes dart between the closed door and you, the pieces clicking. His mouth forms a little âoâ and he nods in understanding. âHe thinks Iâm your baby daddy.âÂ
The two of you point out each other like the Spiderman meme. âHe thinks youâre my baby daddy,â you echo, horror marrying your face.Â
âMama? Whatâs a baby daddy?âÂ
âShh, Nariââ he picks up Nari in one swoop, mouthing a go to you as he leads her to the car.Â
All alone on the grass, you panic as you watch your family grow smaller and smaller as they enter the parking lot. Soonyoungâs just behind that door, right? Looking left and right to assure no one is going to think youâre being that parent and harassing the teacher within the first week of school, you bound up the steps to knock on the door. Your knocks clang heavily, echoing against the building.Â
Ten seconds pass. Nothing.Â
You deflate, pulling out your phone to shoot Soonyoung a quick text.Â
You: hey, can you come out for a bit so i can explain? Please
A minute passes. He leaves you on read. Defeated, you slump against the door. This day is really a whirlwind on your mental state. All you wanted today was some extra time off work, Nariâs three kisses, and maybe a goodnight text from Soonyoung if you were lucky.Â
The door suddenly flips open, and youâre braced against someoneâs hands.Â
âWhoa, you okay?â
Your face crumples in relief when itâs Soonyoung thatâs come out to respond to you. Heâs bracing your weight by holding your arms between his hands, although keeping a respectable distance between the upper half of your bodies. It makes you a little upset, but you understand. Once youâre stable, he lets you go and leans away from you.
âWhy are you waiting out here?â he asks pointedly, looking at you up and down. You seem terribly overdressed in your coral pinstripe suit, mismatching with Soonyoungâs apple sauce stains.Â
âWhy do you think Iâm waiting out here?â
âAnd if I close the door again?â he retorts suddenly.Â
âThen Iâll follow you home.âÂ
A beat passes, whatever expression he conveys on his face is practiced and primed. You have a terrible time trying to decipher his blankness. Working with kids probably does that to an adult. âCome in,â he says neutrally, and you wordlessly follow him into his classroom.Â
The room is decorated beautifully, with rainbows and glitter. Itâs also surprisingly organized, all the crayons in place and the play area free of stray toys. Your eyes instantly search for Nariâs desk, and a small smile fits on your face as you trace her handmade name tag.Â
âNormally, I donât let parents in my room until itâs Back to School Night,â Soonyoung says, leaning against his desk. It makes you terribly nervous, knowing the ball is in your court and heâs waiting for you to make a move. His carefree, easy going nature is nowhere to be found, and all you see is walls and a mean poker face. He pulls up the sleeves of his polo, exposing pale, strong arms. Your mouth waters a little (you canât help it!) and you immediately reach for a bottle of water in your purse. âSo, what is it you have to say?âÂ
âSeungkwanâs not my baby daddy,â you blurt, and you immediately blanch when Soonyoungâs eyes widen. âWow uh. I didnât mean to say it like that.âÂ
âBut you did say it like that,â Soonyoung replies slowly, âno child just doesnât give three kisses to someone who isnât their father.âÂ
âI only called him my baby daddy because he said it first,â you grumble, almost childishly, âand Nariâs a baby, of course sheâs going to give three kisses to anyone that feeds her and coddles her.âÂ
âIt sounds like an excuse.âÂ
âIt sounds like Iâm freaking out because you keep talking back and forth like this!â you cry, slapping your hands against your thigh. You donât have to look in a mirror to know that youâre quickly getting annoyed, your face morphing into a shade of embarrassment. You canât tell if this is amusing him or this is a real interrogation. âLet me explain, Soonyoung!âÂ
He says your name slowly, deliberately. And then, âdo you want to take a break in the Calm Down Corner?âÂ
âTheâthe what?â Soonyoungâs eyes flicker to a corner at the far end of the room. The radiator is decorated in a sky blue wallpaper, and thereâs a yoga mat on the floor. There are chairs next to a desk filled with coloring pages, decorated with fairy lights. Filling three of the chairs are various stuffed animals, a tiger, a cat, and a panda, all dressed as doctors. Itâs a childâs therapy corner. âYou gotta be kidding me.âÂ
He raises a brow, andâis that a smile on his lips? âThen explain, why are you here?âÂ
âBecause I think I really like you,â you confess, frustration melting away to reveal the uneasy upturn on your lips. You lied when Seungkwan asked if you would ever consider introducing Soonyoung to Nari. In a different world, you wouldâve loved to take the time to take Nari to the museum and introduce Soonyoung there. Theyâd definitely bond over their love for tigers. âSeungkwan is my best friend, and helps me take care of Nari. I adopted her five years ago.âÂ
Something softens in Soonyoungâs eyes, and the air feels much more relaxed. But his dark brows remain knit together, and he looks at you with confused eyes. âThen if you like me so much, why didnât you tell me you had a daughter?â
âBecause kids can be deal breakers,â you admit, and the colorful classroom feels smaller as you hug yourself. âI just, wanted you to like me first.âÂ
Itâs the primary reason why itâs taken you so long to date. Sure, thereâd be a fling here and there, but nothing that feels as tangible as Soonyoung is. Youâre not old enough to find a partner that wouldnât blink at the sign of children, yet youâre still at that weird age threshold where a partner could immediately run for the hills at the mention of one. Nothing will top Nari, sheâs number one in your heart, but the small selfish part wanted you to put the focus on yourself for just one night.Â
âYou donât have to hide, I want every part of your life no matter how long we have,â he assures you gently, firmly without an ounce of regret. Soonyoung opens his arms, and you cry in relief when you get to collapse in the scent of his cologne. You tuck your head in the crook of his neck, slightly sweaty from whatever activities he needs to do with the kids, but you donât mind. His voice is quiet, melting in your ears, âand I really like you too. I really like Nari as well, sheâs a great kid.âÂ
âShe is, isnât she?âÂ
You two pull away, and he swipes a thumb under your eyes in case some tears manage to escape. âSo, Friday? Movie?âÂ
âItâs a date.âÂ
âWhereâs Nari?â the question is huffed against your breath as youâre pressed between your freshly washed bedspread and Soonyoungâs body. He takes care in making sure the zipper of your delicate dress doesnât get caught in the rush, easily slipping your dress off and throwing it on your desk chair.Â
âAt Seungkwanâs, why?âÂ
His cheshire cat eyes glow under the moonlight, positively devious. âItâs date seven,â he announces sweetly. His gaze betrays his saccarine reply, a look that only tells you that Soonyoung plans to fuck you five ways to Sunday, and youâll gladly let him.Â
You sit up on your elbows, enjoying the show as Soonyoung quickly sheds his clothing. Itâs ungraceful, exciting. Tonight was a simple carnival date, easily making you feel like a giddy college student all over again. Soonyoung won you five Pokemon keychains today, you could put a whole party on your hand.Â
âItâs actually date six,â you tease, tilting your head as his pants finally come off, revealing black boxer briefs that snug deliciously around the waist.Â
âOh, okay,â he looks at you like youâve spoken Godâs word, reaching to pick up his shirt, âso you donât want my dick fucking you raw tonight? Okay, I see how it is,â he pretends to put on his clothing, jabbing a thumb out the door.Â
You have the audacity to giggle, pulling him over by the waistband, âCome here so I can make an exception.â
You donât know what it is that makes you want you want to give everything to this man. Heck, five years ago you didnât even want a man as an excuse to have kids. But as he nudges you in all the right places and places you on top of him, you know this man will treat you like an absolute treasure. Every kiss is laced with smiles and sweetness, filled with vigor and vivacity that fills you up and leaves you afloat.Â
He takes care of you first, unwilling to let you budge as he places your core over his face. He makes quick, but effective use of his tongue and fingers, making sure youâre nice and sensitive for his future plans. Youâre practically throbbing with pleasure, vibrating from every cell of your body. Within minutes heâs glistening in your arousal, and he pulls you down so youâre lined up with his crotch. Itâs involuntary when you pulse against his member, your body shamefully alerting you that itâs desperate with need, and the remedy is right under you.Â
Soonyoung looks more satisfied than you, eager to please you. Without warning, he stuffs two fingers in your mouth, âYou pretty, pretty girl,â you are keen at the attention, your body is glowing a radiant rose.Â
Your tongue rolls against his fingers, sticky and tasting of your arousal. Tilting your hips up you let Soonyoung pull his member out, lining it against your entrance. Feeling the soft tip brush against your delicate folds, you moan against his mouth. With a little âpopâ he releases you, lips shiny and parted.Â
âI hope you donât think Iâm some kind of hit-it-nâquit-it kind of guy,â he noses the sensitive spot of your jawline, which distracts you momentarily when the plush tip nudges your folds, coaxing you to unite. âBecause after tonight, Iâm definitely keeping you. Forever.âÂ
The reply that dances on your tongue is overtaken by your whines when Soonyoung slips in fully, forcing your body to clench tightly against his. You take him, all of him. You feel wet and sticky and hot and swollen with affection as Soonyoung praises you for taking him so well. His pace is firm and passionate, short nails digging deliciously into your hips for leverage as he makes sure to fill you to the brim.Â
Heâs right, tonight is far from being a means to an end. You feel like you can have nights like this the rest of your life. And when the both of you finish and youâre pulling the covers over one another, you finally manage to grasp the reply that was nearly forgotten.Â
Pressing a kiss to his jaw you whisper, âIâm keeping you, too.âÂ
âSo, how long can we keep this a secret for?â
âIdeally? Ten months. Realistically, Iâd say Christmas.âÂ
âWhy Christmas?âÂ
âBecause I know youâre going to be dying to get Nari a Christmas present.âÂ
Soonyoung props his elbow on the pillow, looking at you petulantly. âI could say itâs a good behavior reward. Sheâs been racking up those gold stars during morning meetings, babe. Sheâs not even trying.âÂ
âThatâs my girl,â you coo, rolling over to lean your head on his chest. Light has long flooded into your apartment, seeping through your curtains and reflecting on your white duvet. Soonyoung looks absolutely fluffy and well rested, and you canât help but reach to pat down the ebony birdâs nest atop his head.Â
The two of you lay like that for a little bit, playing with each otherâs cold feet under the covers and relishing under the touch of bare skin to bare skin. You remind yourself that you need to take Joshua out to dinner one of these days, as he managed the inevitable and set you up with an amazing partner.Â
âBreakfast?â Soonyoung pops the question easily, âletâs get steak.â
âSteak isnât eaten for breakfast.âÂ
âThen can I eat you for breakfast?âÂ
You snort, hiding under the covers while Soonyoung attempts to tickle you. The whole act in itself feels wholly innocent despite the fact that youâre both naked and smell like sweat and sex. Just as you feel Soonyoungâs head dip under the covers to meet you at your chest, the door swings open.Â
âMama!âÂ
The previously warm room feels like wickedly sharp ice, freezing you to your spot as you clutch the covers closer to your chest. âBaby!â you cry exasperatedly, flinching when she throws all her weight on you. Sheâs still in her ladybug pajamas from last night, hair falling out of her braid.Â
She lifts her head from your breast to give you an adorable one-toothed grin. You try your best to maintain eye-contact, but Nari has impeccable vision. Her grin evolves into a full-on beam when she finds your bed partner.
âMr. Kwon!â sheâs squealing, clamoring over your lap. You do a double-take when you see Soonyoung sitting next to you, wearing a t-shirt. Where on earth did he get that?
Soonyoungâs eyes reduce to crescents at his (secretly) favorite student. âGood morning, Nari-ah. Had a fun time at your Uncleâs house?âÂ
âNari,â you force your daughter down to stand on the hardwood, giving her a stern look, âgive Mr. Kwon some space, itâs really early and itâs the weekend.âÂ
Knitting her brows together, she looks between the two of you, âBut you two donât have any space.âÂ
You wince at her perception, and nudge yourself away so youâre pressed against your nightstand. The oakwood corner digs painfully into your back.Â
âWe were haviĂ„ng a very special parent meeting,â you fight the urge to cry when Soonyoung turns on his teacher's voice, sending your daughter a very convincing smile. You watch as your daughterâs eyes go wide, probably feeling very special that her teacher came all the way to her house to have a meeting. âYouâve been doing so well during the read-alouds that I had to tell your mama in person!âÂ
âI told you mama!â Nari juts out her chest, and you lean over to kiss the crown of her head. âBut Mr. Kwon, why are you having it in mamaâs room?âÂ
âHer room is the warmest!â he says like itâs the most obvious thing, his and Nariâs eyes widening simultaneously as he gestures to the open window. âThe sun travels directly into your bedroom in the morning, and those rays send heatââ
âMr. Kwon,â your voice is as steady as it can be, and you frown when Soonyoung wiggles his brows. You already know heâs thinking of three separate ways you can use the term Mr. Kwon in private, but youâre not having any of that, âshouldnât we uh, wrap up this⊠meeting?âÂ
âI wanna stay,â Nari glowers, obviously nosy as to what you two are talking about.
âI know baby. We just gotta finish up the meeting, okay? Can youââ you cut yourself off when Seungkwan finally decides to make his appearance, eyes wide at commotion heâs created. Heâs in matching pajamas, ridiculously red as he bends down to scoop up Nari. Absolutely sweating and as red as his clothes, his eyes dart between the two of you. You could care less that Seungkwanâs eyes have bags under their bags, and was probably too tired to catch her when she ran inside the house. No, Seungkwan doesnât deserve the title of godfather anymore.Â
âNari! You canât interrupt teacher meetings,â Seungkwan pretends to scold, and Nari turns her head so she can hide in her Uncleâs shoulder.Â
Knowing that Nari canât see a thing, you mouth a very explicit I will kill you to your best friend, and he immediately mouths an apology to the both of you as he ushers himself out the door. You wait ten seconds for your daughter to be out of ear shot, before dropping the blanket from your neck and throwing yourself against the pillows.Â
But Soonyoungâs chuckling, pressing a litany of kisses all over your bare body in an attempt to comfort you. Instead of reveling in his lazy morning touch, you want to disappear between the sheets, never to be seen. What will the PTO moms say when they find out? How will you stop Nari from telling Jeonghan, and therefore Jeonghan telling the entire kindergarten population? Why isnât Soonyoung freaking out about this? Instead, he favors to taste your body, in between kisses muttering something about it being kismet that Nari so happened to see right as you were discussing the secrecy of your relationship. Ten years from now, your daughter will be horrified when she realizes that no, teachers donât normally give housecalls in your motherâs bed.
Your boyfriend pinches your thigh, regarding you with mirth in his eyes.Â
âSo, that means I can buy her a Christmas present now, right?âÂ

àł song inspo: baby itâs cold outside (cover by Jamie and Gaho)
â§Â MATCHING CHRISTMAS SWEATERSSSS!!! You would be probing and forcing Bakugo to wear this cute couple sweater set you saw in the Mall for you guys to wear for Christmas Dinner with your family. However, Katsuki will 100% disagree with your idea before you can even finish your sentence.Â
  "No way in hell am I wearing some shitty and itchy fleece sweater with you."Â
âSUKI-KUN PLEASE I BEG YOUUU DO IT FOR THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT.â
 You eventually got your way though. But, instead, you had to make a deal with your explosive boyfriend that he would be the one to choose the designs imprinted on your sweaters.
 Although it was a "risky deal" at least you still get to be cute and lovey dovey with him.Â
 He ended up choosing some rather unique designs. His sweater was colored black with white skulls in Santa hats printed and plastered in every part of the garment. It was very Bakugo and it looked really really hot good on him.Â
 Yours on the other hand, was the exact opposite of his (although the designs are a couple set) with it's lavender color, Rainbows and cute little white bunnies wearing Santa hats sprinkled everywhere... It was very girly and cutesy.Â
 He's teasing you relentlessly because of how childish your sweater looks, and you snap back at him by saying that he was the one who chose this in the first place and you tease him back by saying "As long as I get to match my outfit with you I wouldn't want it any other way."Â
 This catches him off guard as he blushes furiously from your quip.
 It also didnât help that Bakugo thought you looked really hot cute in your sweater too and how it complimented your figure. Making him even more tsundere than usual.Â
 As soon as he arrives at your Christmas eve dinner, your younger cousins/siblings quickly crowded around him. Showering him with compliments, asking him to showcase his quirk, asking him if he could play with them, what training to become a pro hero is like, and what is life like studying in UA.Â
You try to tell your cousins/siblings to pipe down and give your boyfriend some space but they continue to circle around Katsuki. Pretending not to hear you. Â
There was no way out of this and at the same time, Katsuki wanted to impress your family in his own little way so he pompously asks the children to follow him out to the backyard.Â
You follow suit to see the mayhem and to see a heartwarming scene unfold. Not until your cool wine aunt pulls you over to tell you that you scored a good one and he looks like a keeper. You couldnât help but smile as you quickly head out to the yard.Â
You continue to admire the scene of seeing Katsuki interact rather kindly and gently to your younger cousins/siblings. It was an unusual sight.Â
âKatsuki-nii-san!! Come back for New Yearâs and use your quirk to light up our fireworks and new year crackers pretty please!!!â
Especially coming from Katsuki Bakugo. As he was very quick-tempered.
Your cheeky little cousin brought out a mistletoe from her bag and waved it in front of you and Katsuki. She couldnât hold the mistletoe under the two of you because of how small she was, but she was still pushing the two of you to kiss at the presence of the small plant.Â
You and Katsuki catch each otherâs gaze, and stop to look at each other for a moment waiting for one another to make a move. He looks away, his mouth forming into a pout, trying his best to avoid eye contact with you so it doesnât look too obvious that he was blushing.
He certainly wasnât going to make the first move so you approach him dutifully at the behest of the peering eyes of your younger cousins/siblings and tiptoe to peck him on the cheek.Â
The kids all simultaneously squealed in excitement. They jump for joy and began to sing in unison a song they made up on the spot:Â
â(Y/N)-nee-san and Bakugo-nii-san under a mistletoe! K.I.S.S.I.N.G.!!!â
Once all the splendor had died down, and all your relatives went home, Katsuki had decided to stay for the night with the permission of your parents as you would be visiting the Bakugoâs in the morning too and the two of you could just go together.Â
Your family goes up to their respective rooms to rest, leaving you and Bakugo downstairs in the kitchen to clean up a few other things. This was the perfect moment for the two of you to finally have quality time with each other specially after an entire night of socializing.
âHey (Y/N)... Do you want some hot cocoa?â He says begrudgingly, scratching the back of his neck.
You were screaming internally. This is the first time heâs ever offered to cook/make something like this. (As the only time youâve seen him cook up to this point was the curry incident during forest training camp.)Â âYes please!!!â
You watch him make magic in your kitchen, as he carefully pours milk into both of your cups then proceeds to whisk cocoa powder and sugar, then finally, he heats both of the mugs up.Â
While he continues to create what looks like the tastiest hot chocolate you have ever seen, you suddenly remembered a joke that has been in your mind since the start of December.Â
âKatsuki-kun... I have a joke. A Christmas joke at that.â
âDonât even fucking try.â
âCome onnnnn just hear me outttt.â You look at him with your most cutest puppy eyes and signature smile.
âFine. Do your worst.â
âOkay so... what is the most attractive drink?â
âForget what I said. Donât you dare continue your shittyââ
âA hot chocolate.â
â(Y/N) that is the worst fucking joke Iâve ever heard in my entire life. If you think of one again, then your corny ass is never going to have a taste of this hot cocoa ever again.â He says seriously, piercing you with his death stare as he hands over the mug.Â
âAhahahah fine. This will be the last time. I promise.â You laugh sheepishly, taking a sip of the hot cocoa and immediately feel a rush of sweetness and exquisite taste from just one sip alone. âKatsuki-kun! This tastes amazing!! This is the best hot chocolate Iâve had in my entire life.â
âOf course itâs going to taste good. I made it.â He ruffles your hair, his lips curving into a smile because of your reaction to his cooking.Â
You grab his hand and take him to the living room. The fireplace still lit up, with a classic Christmas movie (Love Actually) playing on the TV, and a comfy and soft blanket sprawled upon the couch. Perfect for the two of you to wrap around yourselves and a perfect chance to cuddle with him.Â
You sit down on the couch, then Katsuki sitting down beside you shortly after as he swaddles the blanket around the two of you.Â
You scoot closer to him to the point that you could feel each otherâs body heat as the two of you began to snuggle.Â
It was rather an awkward position as Katsuki had no idea where to hold you and this was all pretty much still new for the both of you. You give him a comforting smile and a supportive nod.Â
You hear him grunt quietly as he props himself up from the couch. You adjust to his new position too and this time, you were lying on his chest. He wraps his arms around your shoulders, pulling you close. It was soft and warm. You could feel his strong trained muscles and a faint scent of his cologne.Â
âThank you for tonight. For getting along with my family and for spending time with me like this. I really appreciate it.â You snuggle even closer to him, whispering softly.Â
âYea yea.â He says in a slight tone of annoyance, trying to brush you off. âAnything for you. And besides, I enjoyed seeing your cousins/siblings stare in awe because of my quirk anyway.â He adds, this time in a sincere and affectionate tone as he plays with your hair again.
The two of you begin to drift off into sleep, the two of you bathed in each otherâs warmth in a cold Christmas night and life has never been better.Â
- Fin.

Witness Protection - part 2
A/N: And hereâs the conclusion (for now)! I didnât do the reunion with the squad, but if anyone wants that, I could. Again, I split the story in two, so this takes place right after last part. Hope you enjoy!

There werenât a whole lot of applicantsâmost people worked at the grocery store or in one of the other little shops in town. But Mikeâs eyes lit up when one day, you came in, resumĂ© in your hand.
âHello! I hope youâre still looking for help? Iâd like to apply,â you said, a bright smile on your face.
Mike grinned back, holding his hand out for your resumĂ©. He scanned it quickly, noticing your name, the fact that you were close in age, and seeing that youâve worked in customer service before.
âI am, yes. Tell me; do you know the difference between a mystery novel and a thriller?â he asked. He wasnât going to throw youâor anyoneâinto that position like Gerry had to him. Heâd vet you at least a little bit first.
You scrunched up your face as you thought about it, and Mike thought it was the cutest thing heâd ever seen. âWell, I donât have a dictionary definition for you, but in my opinion, mystery novels are more of aâŠwhodunit. Itâs the puzzles, the twists and turns until the villain is revealed at the end. Thriller is moreâŠthe game between the protagonist and villain. It focuses more on the tension, rather than figuring out who the killer is.â
Mike blinked in surprise. âThatâs actuallyâŠyouâre dead on. And seeing as youâre the only one who gave me a straight answer, I think youâre perfect for the job.â
âWait, really?â you asked, your hopes soaring.
Mike nodded. âItâll be working every day, but Iâll let you choose if you want morning or afternoon shift. Either way, I can only pay $15 an hour. If business keeps steady, though, I may be able to give you a raise down the line.â
âWhatâre the hours?â you queried. The pay would be fine for your little house. Plus, the owner was waaay too cute.
Mike blushed. âRight, that would be useful information, wouldnât it?â You laughed and he chuckled. âMorning shift is 8am until 1pm. Afternoons are noon until 5pm. I donât mind working either shift, so itâs entirely up to you and what you can do.â
âMornings work perfectly fine for me,â you replied, smiling. You were an early bird, anyways.
Mike gave you another bright grin. âExcellent. Come back at 8am tomorrow morning, and Iâll show you the jobs the morning shift does. And welcome aboard.â
 ***********************
Hiring you turned out to be the best choice Mike couldâve made. You caught on quickly; by the second day, Mike didnât even need to be there training you anymore. You were great with customers, quick with a joke, and were incredibly well-read. Like him, you often filled the empty time with reading. Though, it was less time than Mike had when working for Gerry; you had to make the coffee and tend to the bakery goods, rearranging them when things sold. And with the higher volume of people, books were left on shelves randomly, making you put them in their correct place.
But the best contribution you made was your own pastries. You told Mike you enjoyed baking, and you brought him in a cupcake one day. It was probably the best thing Mike had ever tasted in his life.
ââŠwould you be willing to sell your confections here? I canât give you extra time off, not unless I hire someone else. But we can have a limited amount, and once they sell out for the day, theyâre outââ
âIâd love to,â you replied, smiling. âMaybe not every day, but I usually make a batch of a dozen in my free time. I could always do two dozen, or a dozen of one thing, a dozen of something else.â
Mike nodded. âHow about we start off slow, only selling things on Sunday? And if it turns out to be too much work for you, we can stop.â
âSounds like a deal, boss man.â
 ************************
Your Sunday Special Treats became so popular, that it was obvious one day wasnât going to cut it. Youâd open the store at 8am with two dozen cookies, and theyâd be gone within an hour. It got to the point where youâd show up at your normal 7:30am, and there would be a crowd by the doors, eagerly asking which treats you brought in that day. After discussing with Mike, you agreed to bake for both Sunday and Wednesday, for a mid-week treat.
Mike even offered to come by your place after he closed the shop to help you bake, if you wanted another pair of hands.
âJust so you know, though, Iâve never baked a day in my life,â he said, chuckling.
But he was so damn cute, and you were kind of hoping for more than a work relationship with him. Which is why you replied, âIâd appreciate all the help I can get. I can teach you.â
 ************************
It became a biweekly routine. Tuesday and Saturday nights, Mike would come to your place, around 6pm. You would be just starting baking, and heâd wash his hands before jumping in with you. At first, it was a struggle for him to figure out what to do with all the ingredients in front of you. You handwrote all your recipesârecipes passed down through generations of your familyâand Mike followed them to the letter.
âThe thing with baking, like cooking, you can add a little bit of this or that if it needs it, whether itâs in the recipe or not,â you told him one night.
He gave you a smirk. âBut I donât know when something needs a little this or that.â
âYouâll get it; youâre incredibly smart, Mike.â
He ducked his head, but you saw his cheeks turn a bright pink, a grin on his face.
Working so close together, not just baking, but in the bookstore as well, it was no shock that you fell head over heels for the sweet man. And it was no surprise when he fell just as hard for you. Both of you were afraid of the implications and the power play of Mike being your boss. But it never felt like a boss/employee relationship. It was always justâŠa partnership.
Eventually, you stopped eating dinner before he showed up, instead offering to make dinner for him. He stopped picking things up to eat on the way to your place, opting to have dinner with you, whether homemade or takeout, it didnât matter.
One night, you were feeling playful, and you flicked flour into Mikeâs face. He gave you a look of disbelief before breaking into a grin. He threw a pinch back into your face, and you let out a laugh so pure, it had Mikeâs heart melting. He was leaning against the counter next to you, close enough that your clothes were touching. Your laughter came to an end, and you glanced into his face, smiling at the white powder on his nose and cheeks.
You couldnât say who leaned in first, but soon enough, your lips were brushing against his before he pushed his more forcefully against yours. One of Mikeâs hands went to cup the back of your head, and you grabbed his shirt, holding him to you.
Suddenly, the timer dinged loudly, and you gently pulled away from him, giving him a small smile before going to pull the brownies from the oven. You didnât mind being interrupted, though; it was the first kiss of many that you would share with Mike Jones.
 ***********************
It was like you were both on the fast track in your relationship. You dated for only a few months before you found a house together. You both ran the shop, Mike raising your payâwhile cutting hisâuntil you were equal. And you never thought you could be more in love with someone in your life.
One day, Mike told you that he wanted the shop closed on the next Saturday. When you asked why, he said that he needed to have an important talk with you on Friday night, and that he wanted a free day afterwards; so that you didnât have to be in bed early, and you had time to process things. He had seemed nervous, and it wasnât the first time it felt like there was something on his mind while he was with you.
You were slightly worried, but also excited; was he going to propose? You didnât want to get your hopes up, but you had no other explanation to what this talk could be.
Mike came home after closing the shop on Friday evening, carrying takeout in a plastic bag. You greeted him with a kiss, and he gave you a smile. But you could see the nerves and concern in his eyes. After scooping food into a bowl, you both sat at the dining table in the kitchen.
âWhat I have to say isnâtâŠeasy. And I must stress that it doesnât leave this house, ever,â he started.
You nodded. âWhatever it is, Iâm sure nothing will change, Mike.â
He sighed, closing his eyes. âMy last name isnât Jones. Itâs Dodds.â
âWhat? All this is about a name changeââ
âItâs more than that. IâIâm in witness protection.â
You sat there, stunned into silence as Mike gave you his entire life story. He gave you every little detail about himself, about growing up in New York City, about his overbearing father and his career in the Army, boxing, and the NYPD. He told you about his parentâs divorce, about his brotherâs drug problems. He told you about his fiancĂ©e, about how the hit out on him was probably one of the best things that ever happened to him.
âI miss my family and squad, will always miss them. But until the Western Italian Mafia is dealt with, I canât go home. And that syndicate is huge; I doubt I ever could go home.â He let out a small chuckle. âAfter meeting you, though, I donât know if I want to go home, either.â
You looked up at him with wide eyes. âWhy did you tell me all this?â you muttered, conscious of how loud you were talking. âArenât you supposed to keep it secret?â
âTechnically, yes. Only the FBI and that doctor who pronounced me dead knows. But IâŠI couldnât give you all of myself until I gave you, well, all of myself,â he explained, his expression pleading.
You felt goosebumps on your arms. âYou really trust me that much?â
âDarling,â he said, shaking his head. He took your hands in his. âI trust you with my life. Youâre it, the end game for me. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.â
Tears sprung up in your eyes. âI donât care if your name is Mike Jones, or Dodds, or anything! I love you, and only you. I want to grow old with you, too.â
The widest grin stretched across his face before he got up from his chair. He came around the table and kneeled in front of you, releasing your hands to cup your face. He used his thumbs to brush the tears from your face before pulling you to him in a kiss full of love and passion.
You leaned back slightly. âYouâre safe here in California, right?â
âI should be, yes.â
You nodded. âGood, because I donât want to lose you. And Iâd fight a mafia for you.â
Mike huffed out a laugh, and you tugged him back in for another kiss.
 *****************
Something that Mike learned a few months later was that his driverâs license and birth certificate were enough of an ID to get married. It was a small ceremony, just you, Mike, and your parents. You both agreed that Mikeâs parents had both already passed, and he was an only child. Mike got to wear a tuxedo once more, and he dimly thought about what it wouldâve been like to marry Alice back in Manhattan. But then he saw you in your simple dress, and those thoughts faded away. He had never been happier as he stood next to you, signing the marriage license, then bringing you in for a tender kiss. For legal reasons, you decided to keep your last name, but that didnât stop him from calling you Mrs. Jones, or wifey.
 *****************
It took only a month after your wedding for you to wind up pregnant. Both you and Mike were over the moon with excitement and joy. He built the nursery in your home while you made a list of baby names. You were set to have a little boy, and Mikeâs only contribution was to veto William and Matthew.
âI donât want to think about my old familyââ he started, but you held up a hand.
âI understand. But what about as a middle name?â
He thought about it. âI guess thatâs okayâŠ. Have you chosen a first name yet?â
You smiled softly. âIâm thinking about my fatherâs name, Phillip. What do you think?â
âI like it. Which do you like more; Phillip William, or Phillip Matthew?â For the same legal reasons, Phillip would have your last name, rather than Mikeâs fake one.
You gave him a look. âI chose the first name; this one is on you. Besides, I like them both.â
âYouâre a lot of help,â Mike teased, chuckling.
 ******************
Eight months later, Phillip Matthew was born, happy and healthy. He was absolutely perfect, and neither you nor Mike could be prouder or more in love with him. Of course, you both had closed the bookstore for a week while you were in labor and afterwards, both of you doting on your newborn. And when Mike went back to work, it was for limited hours. The town was understanding, almost overtly so.
In fact, you never had to buy diapersâat least for the first few months. Your neighbors gifted you diapers, clothes, food, anything you could happen to need. The bookstoreâs hours change to 8am until noon. Then it closed for an hour and reopened until 5pm. Mike worked mornings now; you were busy with Phillip and pumping milk for the afternoon. Then heâd come home, and youâd eat lunch together before you went to the bookstore, leaving Mike to watch and play with Phillip. It was a perfect arrangement, and you were both happy and in love.
Time seemed to fly by; soon enough, Phillip was crawling, then standing, then walking. He was a Daddyâs boy through and through, always following him around the house. His first word was âdada,â and Mike started taking Phillip with him on his evening jogsâhe didnât take morning jogs anymore, instead wanting to spend his mornings with you and Phillip. And when Phillip saw Mike working out, he would attempt to copy him, much to your amusement and worry.
One day, Mike was doing pushups in the living room, and Phillip couldnât look away. He was still just under two-years-old, and he got down on his knees. You came into the room just in time to watch Phillip, on hands and knees, slam his face into the ground in an attempt at a pushup. You gasped and went to make sure he was alright, but Mike held up a hand, watching his son intently. Instead of crying, Phillip looked up at his father, waiting for praise.
âThat was great, Phil. But try not to hit your head on the ground,â Mike said slowly, as if Phillip would understand what he was saying.
Mike got back in a pushup position, and Phillip followed. âWatch me, big guy,â he muttered, slowly going down to the ground. Phillip mimicked, eyes wide and locked on his dadâs grinning face. And when he pushed back up to his knees, Mikeâs smile grew.
âHoney, did you see that?! Our little man did a pushup!â Mike announced, moving to sit and pulling Phillip into his lap, hugging him and murmuring encouragement.
You rolled your eyes, laughing. âI canât believe youâre having him do pushups with you. Youâre going to make him a bodybuilder by five!â
Mike guffawed, picturing it. âNahâI can get him there by age three.â
You grinned, gazing at your happy family while Mike rolled onto his back, holding Phillip at armâs length above him.

[ flu season in E minor ]
pairing: fyodor dostoevsky x gn!reader
word count: 2.2k words
contains: uni!au, sigma and nikolai as your bffâs, gn!reader, music student!fyodor, fyodor being a bit of a brat while heâs sick, slight pining/crushing, idk just fluffy shit
summary: you and fyodor are both in the university theater club but you rarely ever see him except for when youâre picking up the musical compositions he makes for the play. this time, however, you come over to his apartment to find him sick with the flu
a/n: uhhh this is kind of a trainwreck cause i was literally just âomg uni!au fyodor sickficâ and then went with it :P
âdonât forget to drink your vitamin c guys! flu season is already here and if youâre down with the flu please donât come in and spread your germs everywhere,â sigma instructed at the ending of the cast meeting. even though he sounded snappy while saying it, you could tell he meant well. two of your actors in the theatre club had already come down with the flu and with showtime coming up soon, everyone was understandably extra careful.
ây/n, one last thing,â sigma called you over as everyone prepared to leave.
âin case you were going to ask, yes, i took my vitamins already,â you teased skipping over to where he was.
ânot funny,â sigma rolled his eyes. âi was wondering if you could follow up with fyodor on the music for the next scene? he doesnât respond at all to any non-physical communication, i already left him ten messages.âÂ
âooh, another visit to the phantom of the operaâs apartment,â nikolai popped up right at your shoulder.
âseriously? you guys call him that?â sigma raised a disappointed eyebrow at you two.
âwell heâs mysterious and makes music in a theatre.âÂ
âi feel like you should actually watch phantom of the opera before making that claim,â you told him. âalso sure,â you shrugged nonchalantly to hide your obvious excitement. âi have time to drop by.âÂ
even though heâs a part of the theatre club, fyodor dostoevsky was pretty much an enigma to the rest of the members. his contributions to the club activities were mainly in the form of the musical compositions he created for the plays. however, because he was always busy practicing for upcoming recitals apart from his music classes, fyodor rarely ever attended rehearsals.Â
but on the off-chance that he did drop by in a rehearsal to discuss with sigma or attend a cast meeting, youâd spend the entire time just... admiring him. everything from the calm and articulate way he spoke to messy way his hair framed his face. and on that day when fyodor decided to demonstrate the music by playing it himself on his cello, you realized you were head over heels for this man.
and so you, practically jumped at every chance you got to pick up sheet music or recordings from fyodorâs apartment. you already set the expectation that you wouldnât be around for long. and you were right about that... usually.
...
âfyodor? hello?â you knocked on the door for what was probably the fifth time already. it was freezing cold outside and you were desperate to get in. pressing your ear against the door, you heard a weak voice say âcome in. doorâs openâ and then tentatively, you unlocked the door.
whenever you saw fyodor, he was always wearing a clean, button-up shirt and slacks since he was also at orchestra practice. so of course, it was a complete shock to you to come into his apartment to find fyodor dressed in bright red pajamas with a mickey mouse logo on the center of his shirt with a colorful patchwork quilt thrown across his shoulders. not to mention, he was seated in his couch with sheet music and tissues strewn around him.Â
upon closer look, you could tell from his sunken eyes and slightly red nose that flu season had struck fyodor.Â
âoh, y/n, itâs you,â he sniffled as you hesitated near the door. âcome in. itâs cold out.âÂ
âare you alright?â you asked, approaching fyodor. because you had gotten the flu a bit earlier that month, you werenât too concerned about catching it again. âyou look, well, sick.âÂ
âjust a cold,â fyodor waved his hand. âanyway, did sigma send you for something?âÂ
âheâs asking for a follow-up with the music for the new scene,â you remembered.Â
âoh, that...â fyodor nodded, frowning as he searched the sheet music scattered around him. âiâm sure itâs around here somewhere and... i forgot to do it.â fyodor sighed at the realization. âdonât worry. iâll just whip something up real quick,â he sniffed before picking up a blank piece of sheet music.
âwell you donât have to right now. fyodor, youâre sick. you should get some rest before working,â you sat down on the couch as fyodor bent over the coffee table with a pencil ready. âi mean, no offense but i doubt you can come up with anything in your current state.â
ânonsense, y/n,â fyodor scoffed and began to scribble something on the page. âi am a trained classical musician. composing is merely second-nature to someone like myself. why, iâm sure i have a melody coming along right--âÂ
âfyodor.âÂ
âyes?â
âyou just wrote the letter g on the corner of the page and then started drawing random squiggles.âÂ
fyodor looked down at his squiggled-over sheet music with a completely deadpan expression and stared at it for a good ten seconds. âi thought it was a g-clef,â he whispered to himself.
âdo you... want me to help you to your room?â you asked softly. fyodor sniffed.
âyes please.â
...
when you headed out to his apartment earlier that morning, you didnât expect to be taking care of a sick fyodor for the rest of the afternoon. for someone who always looked put-together and composed, fyodor was terrible at taking care of himself. even after coming down with the flu a few days ago, he still insisted on practicing the cello in his apartment. and, judging by the empty cans in the sink, you could tell that all he was eating was instant soup.
and, sick fyodor was kind of... whiny. it took a lot of convincing on your part for him to agree not to work on the compositions in bed, or practice his bowing. he complained about his pillows ânot being plump enoughâ and that his socks didnât match (because he didnât do the laundry).Â
âi donât think iâll even be able to sleep at this rate, y/n. my head is spinning but iâm not nearly tired enough to sleep. maybe iâll drift off for just a bit but it wonât be that restful,â fyodor said, laying down on his not-plump pillows before he was out like a light five minutes after.
âdrift off for just a bit, huh?â you chuckle slightly to yourself as you watch him. fyodor was curled up on his side, hugging one of the pillows with his blanket wrapped tightly around him.Â
you were definitely in a strange situation being in your crushâs house while he was sick in bed. there wasnât really a need for you to stay; you could just leave some medicine on the nightstand and a note with instructions.
âmmm... key needs to be in e minor,â fyodor mumbled in his sleep before turning over on his side. you bit back a laugh for fear of waking him up.Â
âwhat the heck? iâll stay and make him some actual soup,â you ultimately decided.
...
fyodor woke up to the smell of something delicious cooking, and that was something he rarely woke up to. aside from the fact that he could actually smell out of his currently unclogged nose, fyodor felt much better than he had been in a while.Â
ây/n must still be here,â was his next thought after waking up. and he must admit, that was very reassuring to know. fyodor didnât have the best constitution and whenever flu season rolled around, he expected being sick for a length of time.Â
after wrapping the blanket around himself, fyodor curiously crept into the kitchen to find you standing over at the stove, stirring something in a pot while humming to yourself. there was a bag of groceries on the counter too. âdid they... buy me food?âÂ
he coughed slightly to get your attention.
âoh, fyodor. youâre up,â you turned around, smiling at him. âhow are you feeling?â
âa bit... better,â he confessed, fully aware that he said all those things about not being asleep before embarrassingly falling asleep for two hours.Â
âgreat! soupâs going to be ready in a few minutes. if you freeze it youâll have enough for a few days,â you added. âalso bought some oranges. they should be good for you.âÂ
âyou... donât really have to do this you know?â fyodor ended up blurting out, except it sounded a bit harsh. âi mean, iâm sure you went through all the trouble.âÂ
âdonât worry about it,â you waved him off. âyouâve been working really hard so i get that you donât think of yourself much. let me do this one thing for you as a friend,â you smiled.
âalso, iâm genuinely concerned at the amount of canned soup youâve been consuming.âÂ
âcanned soup isnât that bad for you,â fyodor insisted.Â
âyeah, and iâm sure you enjoy that metallic aftertaste quite a lot,â you quipped. fyodor opened his mouth to retort something before closing it abruptly. the knowing smirk on your face only made him glance away. instead, he busied himself with retrieving the clean bowls, luckily there were two left, from the dishrack and setting them on the table. you were humming again while you turned off the stove before serving the soup.
âchicken noodle soup, huh?â fyodor couldnât help but chuckle.
âa classic,â you shrugged with a smile. âitâs a secret family recipe too so itâs bound to get you to feel better.âÂ
âyouâre making it up, arenât you?âÂ
âyeah, i got it off the internet,â you giggled. fyodor chuckled and took a sip of the soup. it was deliciously hot and flavorful and best of all, the soup didnât have a metallic aftertaste.
âafter eating, you can take some of medicine that i bought in case you have a headache or body pain, as long as you didnât take any four hours before.â
âwhat?â fyodor blinked at you.
âyou know, donât take the medicine within four hours of each other,â you explained slowly. âalso itâs better that you drink some now that youâve eaten.âÂ
fyodor not-so vaguely recalled all those times he drank medicine on an empty stomach and feeling even more sick after. âi... was not aware of that,â he admitted. you sighed with your eyes closed.
âiâm amazed youâre still alive.âÂ
...
âso, flu season struck the phantom of the opera, huh?â nikolai sighed after you told him about your weekend.
âyeah,â you nodded, remembering the sight of fyodor on the couch dressed in his pajamas with a blanket wrapped around him. that was going to be burned in your mind for a long time. âheâs... kind of terrible at taking care of himself.âÂ
âthatâs fyodor for you,â sigma added. the three of you had arrived at the backstage area of the theatre early and were busying yourselves with sorting through the various props that you had. âyou know, one time he even went to a recital with a 39-degree fever. practically collapsed when he was off-stage.â
âiâll one-up that story,â nikolai practically sprang off the box he was sitting on. âokay, so there was this one time i came over to fyodorâsâapartment while he was sick and he was so delirious he--â
âyou guys do know that itâs rude to talk about people when theyâre not there.â
the three of you practically spun around at the same time to find fyodor leaning against the doorframe of the backstage entrance with his arms crossed. he was looking way better than last time you saw him.
âfyodor,â sigma blinked, clearly stunned. âyouâre... youâre here.â
âyouâre alive!â nikolai cried dramatically, skipping over to fyodor and flinging his arms around fyodor who showed obvious discomfort.Â
âof course i am,â he scoffed. âthanks in part to y/n.â
hearing that made your face flush a bit. âi-it was nothing,â you stammered, dodging nikolaiâs curious stare.Â
âanyway, i finished the compositions for the next scene,â fyodor strode forward, handing sigma a folder of sheet music and a flash drive. âlet me know if itâs to your liking.â
âthank you. iâve been having directorâs block with that one. this should help,â sigma sighed gratefully. âiâll give it a listen if you donât mind.â and before you could say anything else, he scurried out to the stage area.
âand iâm going to leave for some arbitrary reason just so you two would have some alone time,â nikolai snickered at the indignant expression on your face before leaving you and fyodor alone backstage.
âoh, nikolai. always... funny,â you laughed nervously.Â
âindeed,â fyodor nodded. âi only have the vaguest idea of whatâs been going on during rehearsals. i should probably come around more often.â
âoh, we understand that youâre busy and all. but youâve already been helping a lot with composing the music so donât sweat it if you feel like you havenât been active,â you said.
âwell, thatâs not the only reason i want to come around more often,â fyodorâs eyes flickered up to meet yours and you felt your face heat up again. god, it was so much easier to talk to to him and joke around when he was sick with the flu.
âin any case, iâm glad you feel better now,â you cleared your throat. âi hope the soup helped.â
âit did. i was sad to see it run out,â fyodor chuckled. and before you could even consider what it was you were going to say, you went and blurted out:Â
âi could make it for you again.â
âoh?â fyodorâs eyebrows flew up and a smirk played on his lips.
âi-if you want to of course,â you stammered.Â
âiâd like that,â fyodor smiled, much to your surprise. âif you could update me on rehearsals and the play weâre doing, that would be great. how does friday sound?â
âfriday sounds great.â

Thankful | Tom Holland x Reader
Pairing: Tom Holland x Fem!Reader
Summary: You and Tom spend Thanksgiving with your family.
Warnings: none, just fluff
Word Count: 1,736
A/n: Requested by anon! This was fun to write!
You and Tom have been married for about five years and have been together for around seven years. You were from America and you had met Tom when he was working on one of his projects back in the States. You were a professional makeup artist and you happened to be Tomâs makeup artist for that specific project. Tom thought you were funny and talented, so he couldnât help but ask you out. Good thing you said yes because now you both have a beautiful life together.
You have two adorable children. Your eldest daughter, Charlotte, was four years old and your baby boy, Parker, was nine months old. You loved your perfect little family because you and your wonderful husband created them.
Tom had been talking about holiday plans for a while now. You had wanted to travel back to the States for Thanksgiving, but Tom was nervous. You havenât travelled since Charlotte was ten months old and he was scared to travel with two little ones. You assured Tom that everything would be fine. Your parents wanted to see you and the kids and you told Tom that it would be a good time.
The plane ride went surprisingly really well. The kids didnât fuss much, and you were extremely grateful for that. Your older sister picked you up from the airport and you made your way back to your childhood home.
You came in and you and Tom were immediately engulfed in hugs from your mother and father, along with your siblings and their children. Your mother took Parker from Tomâs arms because she hasnât seen him since he was a newborn and she had missed him. Charlotte went with your sister to the backyard to go out and play.
âHow was the flight?â Your father asked your husband.
âIt was good. The kids didnât scream at all during the flight.â
âThatâs great, Tom! Y/n used to scream on the plane all of the time when she was younger,â your mother commented.
âYeah, we know. I was a handful,â you said.
âShe still is,â Tom teased.
âShut it, Thomas,â you said as you playfully slapped his chest. âNeed any help cooking, mom?â
Your mother handed Parker back into your arms and said, âIâm actually almost done with everything for tonight. Dad just has to cook the turkey tomorrow.â
Your sister and Charlotte came back from outside and Charlotte ran into her fatherâs arms, very excited to tell him something. âDaddy! Daddy!â
âYeah Char?â Tom asked.
âAuntie said we can go jump in leaves. Come! Come!â Charlotte exclaimed. She began running back to the door, pointing outside.
âIâm coming, Charlie,â Tom said as he ran outside with his daughter. You walked outside with Parker and your mother to see Tom and Charlotte rolling in the leaves together and you couldnât help but smile at the sight.
âP!â Charlotte shouted and ran towards you and her little brother.
âI donât think P can jump in the leaves just yet, bubs,â you said.
âMummy, Iâm tired.â Unlike you, Charlotte had a gorgeous British accent and your mother laughed when she heard what Charlotte called you.
âLetâs go rest then, darling. It looks like you and Parker both need a nap. Tom?â
âYes, love?â
âLetâs put P and C to bed,â you said.
âNo, no. Let me,â you mother requested. âLet me spend more time with my grandchildren.â
âIf you insist,â Tom laughed. Your mother took Parker from your arms and grabbed Charlotteâs hand and led them to the guest bedroom where you would be staying.
âIâm going to make Parker a bottle and Iâll bring it to your mum,â Tom said and then pressed a kiss to your forehead and made his way back inside.
You decided to sit out on the patio outside for a while, just enjoying some alone time. It wasnât quiet often so you decided to make the most of it. After a couple of minutes your father came out.
âIs everything okay?â He asked as he sat right beside you on the bench.
âYeah, just enjoying the quiet.â
âHeâs good to you?â Your father asked, referring to Tom. Your father liked Tom, but he always asked to make sure everything was going okay.
âWhy do you always ask me that?â You asked slightly confused, but smiling at your father nonetheless. You werenât upset that he asked, just curious.
âAs a father, I need to make sure your husband is taking care of you.â
âI can take care of myself just fine,â you replied.
âI know you can. You are my daughter after all,â he laughed. Your father got up to go back inside and gave you a small wave. Your relationship with your father was definitely interesting but you loved him anyway.
Tom came back outside with a bottle of wine with two glasses and sat with you on the bench as well.
âHowâs my favorite girl doing?â He asked as he put everything on the table in front of you.
âDonât tell Charlotte that.â
âOh, of course not. Are you doing okay?â He asked.
âIâm really good. Happy,â you said and then you kissed his cheek.
âIâm sorry that I gave you such a difficult time in coming here. I just didnât think the kids would be this well behaved.â
âYeah, because they usually take after you,â you teased.
âCut it out, darling,â Tom said.
âOh, so you can tease me and itâs fine but I canât tease you?â
âExactly.â
âIâm really thankful for you, Tom. I donât know where Iâd be without you,â you said in appreciation for your caring husband.
âIâm thankful for you, too. Without you, Iâd be a mess.â
âA hot one, though,â you said as you wrapped your arms around his neck and Tom pulled you into his lap. He kissed your forehead, then both of your cheeks, then your nose, and finally, your lips.
âWhat about the wine?â You asked.
âDonât worry, darling. Weâll get to it, just let me kiss you first,â Tom said and went back to kissing you all over your face. He was just happy that you were letting him give you this much affection.
âI really love you, hubby.â You said and leaned your head on Tomâs shoulder.
âI love you more, wifey.â You closed your eyes and Tom gently rubbed your back soothingly. You felt yourself slowly drifting off into slumber. Tom looked over your shoulder and saw that you were sleeping and he picked you up and gently carried you to the bedroom you were staying in. He tucked you under the covers and pressed a kiss to your cheek. He checked on Charlotte and Parker and saw them sleeping peacefully. He placed kisses to their cheeks as well and then quietly left the room.
âTheyâre sleeping?â your mother asked Tom when he came to the living room.
âYeah, Y/n has been exhausted recently.â
âSheâs a great mother,â your mother complimented. Tomâs eyes lit up at your motherâs words because you agreed. He was in awe of you every time he saw you with his children and he was so lucky to build a life with someone as amazing as you are.
âShe is.â
~~~
You woke up later in the night and you saw that Tom was sitting on the rocking chair in the corner of the room with Parker in his arms, feeding him.
âHey, handsome,â you whispered.
âHow did you sleep, darling?â Tom asked as you made your way over to your husband and son.
âVery well. I can take Parker if you want. I feel bad.â
âDonât feel bad, love. You do so much for this family. Let me help a little bit,â Tom insisted.
âOkay, howâs Charlotte?â
âShe woke up to eat and play for a while and then she went back to bed.â
âIâve been out for a while then,â you said.
Tom finished feeding Parker and you went to go eat something since you were hungry. After, you took a shower and then rocked Parker to sleep. You and Tom went to bed shortly after.
~~~
You both woke up bright and early to Charlotte jumping on the bed along with Parkerâs screams. You went to pick up Parker to feed him while Tom dressed Charlotte in his nice outfit for updated family photos today. After you finished feeding and changing Parker into his outfit, you changed into your dress for today and put on some light makeup. You then went to the kitchen to find Tom pouring a bowl of cereal for Charlotte.
âGet dressed, Tommy.â Tom turned around and saw you and Parker smiling at him.
âYou both look adorable,â he said as he made his way over to you and gave you both a kiss.
After Tom got dressed, you ate breakfast with him and your parents and then you went to the park for pictures.
~~~
Pictures went well and then you all went home to get ready for Thanksgiving dinner. Tom helped your father cook the turkey while you and your mother set the table and finished preparing the side dishes. Charlotte and Parker were busy playing with your sister.
âTurkeyâs done!â Your father exclaimed. Your dad brought the turkey to the table and now you were all ready to eat. You all gathered around the table and finally sat down together.
âBefore we eat, letâs all go around and say what we are thankful for,â your mother said. Your parents went first and then your sister, and then finally you.
âThank you mom and dad for having us. I am incredibly thankful for my husband and my children. Without them I donât know where Iâd be,â you said.
Tom leaned over to you and whispered, âLooks like someone is stealing my line.â
âOh dear,â you giggled.
âI am thankful that we were able to be here this year for Thanksgiving. Thank you so much for having us. I am very thankful for my two beautiful children, my wife, and the rest of my family as well, even though they are not sitting with us today,â Tom said. After that, you all began to dig into the yummy food.
Charlotte loved the turkey and Parker made a mess with his mashed potatoes. They were sometimes messy and you were often tired, but they were your beautiful children, and you couldnât imagine spending Thanksgiving any other way.
hi ive read like all your stuff about korkie is a kenobi in the span of about three days and i'm so EMOTIONAL?? it makes such narrative sense - star wars is a story about fathers and sons and what happens when mothers are lost and in eternal spring, when obi wan doesn't reject korkie, and korkie doesn't reject obi wan, and they love each other and accept each other despite the gaping hole that satine left in their relationship it like heals and breaks that cycle of little blonde boys being 1/
of little blonde boys being left in the desert without their mothers and with father figures who don't quite accept the responsibility of being a father to all of their detriments! it lets padme live, and it lets luke escape, and it lets everyone who wants to heal and work towards a better future. anyway, this is some Good Fucking Food and thank u for writing it. if you're still open to prompts i would really like to see some kryze-kenobi family bonding. just the three of them happy and togetherÂ
AH! This has been sitting so beautifully, and lovingly in my inbox for ages now, and I do apologise, but I just - I saw fluff and I panicked. I PANICKED!!!
And, as you can probably see, wrote reams of whump and h/c instead. But I tried.
Anyway, there is so much I want to say about this - Iâm going to have to bookmark this whole thing just so I can come back again and again to your generous words. Thank you! I do have such a fondness for Eternal Spring, and whether or not it began as a joke, I am SO attached to the idea of Korkie as a Kenobi, the idea that blood isnât always bad, that healing can happen, that good people make mistakes, that forgiveness IS an option - and I love how that aligns with the Pacifism of Satineâs New Mandalorians. I wish we had more of it (that insistent, unrelenting kindness and compassion) in SW, and Korkie is my little effort at that.
RANTING ASIDE, I hope you find and enjoy this little bit of fluff for the Kenobi-Kryzes. MUCH LOVE.
AND BY THE HAND LED
It was not Life Day. It was not Holyrod week, and Belliâs birthday had been a full ten month ago. Yet still, on this day, Kirokicek Kryze woke with the sun, and raced to his window where he could see the Sundari dockyard in the distance.Â
Personal shuttles buzzed to and fro. Docking tugs hauled heavy freighters into place. Long, thin vactrains hurtled passengers from one platform to the next, or further on into the heart of the city. A few large ferries which had found mooring overnight made their ponderous voyage upwards, headed for the small opening at the apex of the Sundari dome. They were bound for transports anchored in wet space, the people aboard away for deep space travel to distant stars.Â
Korkie watched as one neared the aperture, then, with incredible steadiness of hand, cleared the narrow gap with ease. He let go his breath, but his eyes remained fixed upon the opening. He was not much concerned with the ships that left, but instead found great interest in those ferries which were currently arriving.
They took turns - one in, one out - and with every exchange, Korkie felt as though the city was making room for a very special guest. One who loomed larger than life in his young consciousness, and one who occupied more and more space in his heart the closer he came.
Bebu was coming home.
A knock at his door was not enough to tear his attention from the spectacle outside, but he shuffled over to make room for his mother beside him at the window.
âGood morning, cyar'ika,â she said, pressing a kiss to his hair. âAnd what has got you up so early?â
She still wore her nightclothes beneath a fine gown of pressed velvet. Korkie leaned back into her embrace, stroking the soft fabric, and letting the warm, sweet smell of sleep wash over him.
âIâm watching the dockyards,â he said. âLook! Do you think that one of them has Bebu on it?â
Satine let her chin rest on the crown of his head, and followed his gaze to the sky.
âPerhaps,â she allowed. âAre you excited for your Bebu to come home?â
Korkie turned, trying to get a glimpse of her expression which could only be as teasing as his own was incredulous. She smiled.
âExcited, Belli?â he asked. âI am so, so, superlatively excited!â
âMy,â she said, her face transforming to one of awe. âThat is quite a superlative word you have discovered. Is it new?â
Korkie nodded. âI am saving it for Bebu, for our collection. Do you think he shall like it?â
âI think he shall be quite impressed, dinui.â
âI have another, but I always say it wrong, so I think I shall write it down, instead.â
âThat is very wise,â she said. âFor then there is no chance of misunderstanding, and then your father can teach you to speak it correctly.â
Korkie grinned, and squeezed her hand, so glad to be in such perfect accord.Â
âThat was exactly my plan, Belli!â
âTe jatne mind jo'lekir ti ast,â she said, laughing. âNow come.â
âAre we going to the docks?â
âNot yet,â she said. âFirst meal first, I think, and then we shall see.â
She stood from her place behind Korkie, and smoothed her skirts. The early morning sun fell kindly over her face, so that it lit her eyes from behind, like the facet of some bright gem. She held out her hand to him.
âBut Belli -!â
âIs that fussing I hear coming out of your mouth?â she asked, the perfect image of confusion.
âNo,â he conceded, hanging his head in defeat.
âI thought not,â she said. âNot my Korkie. Besides, we must first ensure that we are properly fed, and tidied before we appear at the docks. We cannot have our tummies grumbling and complaining while we are at the height of a superlative joy, now can we?â
âThat would be rather distracting,â he allowed.
âAnd what would your father think if you showed up all bleary eyed, and sleep tousled? Heâd hardly recognise you!â
âThatâs not true,â protested Korkie. âHeâd think me a âdevoted legislatorâ. He said so last time.â
Satine cocked her head, a smirk curling in the corner of her mouth, and pinned just there, until such a time as she could give it to the owner of those borrowed words.Â
âWell, cyare, I cannot think he meant it as a compliment,â she said, wiggling her fingers temptingly. âNow come - to firsts.
In the kitchens, his mother suggested they arrange a menu, scrounged from the conservator and pantry, while the staff set about preparing for the rest of their day.
âNo need to bother anyone too much when itâs just us, right?â She placed a stool in front of an out of the way countertop, and held his hand while Korkie made a great leap to stand atop it. âNow, what are we hungry for?â
âIsbeans, and egg!â he cried. âWith fresh muja juice!â
âMuja juice!â she echoed in surprise. âMy, but weâre feeling quite indulgent today!â
âWell, it is a special occasion!â he said.
âOf course, youâre right. Muja juice it is. Anything else, adâika?â
He thought for a moment, but knowing how easily she had acceded to his first request, he concluded it most reasonable to forward several more.
âPerhaps some toast,â he said. âAnd flatcakes. And melon squares with black fire jelly? And then some moof milk and summerberries because theyâll go bad if we donât eat them. With sucre crystals on the top. And maybe - only because Bebu says itâs healthy - a cup of kava. But just one, or Iâll be up all night.â
She crouched down to meet him, mischief sparkling in her eyes and not a word of protest at his requests. Instead, her tone was conspiratorial, as though they were together in some great game of hide and hunt.Â
âLetâs brew a whole pot,â she said. âSo that we may share it.â
He laughed in delight. Satine pulled down a tin of weava flour, and let him sprinkle the surface while she portioned out another measure into a shallow bowl for flatcakes. Under her careful eye, he cracked a tip-yip egg, and tipped in some sucre. She worked the mixture into a sticky dough, and portioned out small spheres for Korkie to press out upon the counter. Cook Aâden looked on skeptically, but when his stack of raw discs began to pile up, she stepped in with a sigh, and a fond smile and lifted him on her hip while she fried them over a nano-cooker.Â
As he worked, Satine gathered the berries and the milk, and a little pot of sucre. Helping hands piled plates high with toast, and ulik butter. Isbeans and hard boiled eggs followed, kept warm beneath heated domes. A whole pitcher of ice cold muja juice was produced from the conservator, and a fresh pot of kava was left to steep with wide, green leaves still in it. There was so much food that, in the end, a small cart was required to bear the fruits of their labours, while Korkie added the final touch of perfectly browned flatcakes.
Normally, they would eat their firsts in the family dining hall, but Satine insisted that she could not possibly do so while still dressed in her nightclothes.
âAnd scandalise the whole parliament? I think not, my very shocking dinui. No, itâs best we take everything back to my rooms, and eat there where no one will think us as uncivilised as we appear.â
So with many thanks to Aâden, and her workers, Korkie followed his mother down the glistening marbloid halls with their wide windows. The sun was nearly all the way up, and the traffic in the sky had only increased since Korkie last looked. He was hit with the sudden realisation that perhaps many ferries had come and gone in his absence, and any one of them might contain his father. He raced to the window to check.
âCome along, Korkie,â said Satine. âSoon. I promise.â
Torn between food and the possibility that his father was waiting for him even now, Korkie gave into the demands of his hunger, and followed his mother down the hall.
They stopped outside her door, the cart pushed just off to the side. Satine looked at him appraisingly, smoothing one hand over his determinedly erstwhile hair.
âOh dear,â she said, straightening his synfleece robe, as he reached for the cart to steal a summerberry from the pile. âYou do look a sight. But I suppose it cannot be helped.â
She gave him a fond caress, her thumb tracing the swell of his little cheek with such reverence, and care that Korkie nearly felt guilty for snatching the fruit. But she smiled as he swallowed, and he supposed it must just have been one of those strange things buirs did from time to time, where they mixed up joy and sorrow and said nothing about it.
âI shall comb my hair later, Belli,â he offered. That seemed to do the trick, for she laughed, and stood, and gave his hand a brief squeeze.
âI will remember you said that,â she said. âNow, be a good boy and get the door for your Belli, would you?â
She returned to the cart, as he wiped his hands down the length of his robe, and reached for the palmpad. The door chimed, and slid aside with the barest sigh of air. Inside, Korkie could see that the curtains had been pulled back, and the room was flooded blue and gold with the oncoming day. Playful shadows danced across the floor where hanging tassels toyed with the sun. The carpet glistened like thick grass, lush and crowned in dew. A small table with three chairs sat to one side, and an old cloak lay thrown across it. There were boots, too large for his mother to wear, a belt too wide to be hers, and there, in the bed, swaddled in silkweed sheets and haloed by the sun, was Obi-Wan Kenobi, hovering on the edge of waking.
âBebu!â Korkie shouted.
At his cry, Obi-Wan opened his eyes, and smiled, catching his son as raced across the floor and leapt upon the bed in a single motion.Â
âAh, ner wer'ika! Ni mirdir tion'tuur gar ru'kel olaror. Bic cuyir ori'udes tion'tuur gar cuyir dar.â
âBebu!â Korkie cried again, laughing and wriggling with joy. His father lifted him over his head, holding him aloft as he made his cursory examination.
âKorkicek!â he groaned, as his strength gave out and Korkie tumbled atop his fatherâs chest in a tangle of limbs and blankets. âYou must be very much grown since I last saw you, for you are getting too heavy for me!â
âNo, Iâm not, Bebu,â he said. âIâve only grown two centimeteres since you were gone, and Belli says thatâs only because Iâm on a spurt.â
âOnly two centimeters?â Obi-Wan demands. âDear me, thatâs not very much at all. I shall expect more diligence in your efforts at stretching if we are to make any serious headway in this matter.â
Korkie giggled. âDonât be silly, Bebu,â he said. âI cannot stretch myself bigger. It takes time.â
âAnd heavy reading,â Obi-Wan agreed gravely.
âAnd good eating,â Satine added from behind them. Sheâd set the table in their distraction. Obi-Wanâs cloak now hung respectably from a hook by the fresher blind, and three plates sat waiting to be filled. The isbeans steamed, their skin crackling and blackened. The flatcakes dripped with galek syrup and butter. The summerberries shone plump and delectable in their precarious pyramid. The black fire jellies jiggled, and the muja juice sparkled.
âIs that fresh kava I smell?â asked Obi-Wan.Â
âIt is!â said Korkie. âAnd all sorts of things which Belli and I made! I suppose itâs a lucky thing we made so much extra, for now you can share it with us.â
âA lucky thing, indeed,â Obi-Wan agreed. He looked at Satine with such adoration that the smirk she had pinned up earlier unfurled completely and crossed her face in a radiant smile.Â
âCome, Bebu,â said Korkie, taking his fatherâs hand in his. âEnough lazing about in bed. Letâs eat, or the kava will get cold.â
âQuite right,â Obi-Wan agreed, standing as Korkie slid to his feet beside him, and tugged him over to where Satine was waiting. âWe canât have that.â
âAnd you may have my cup as well,â added Korkie, magnanimously, âAs it is truly a rotten drink, even if you say it is healthy. But since it is such a special day, I donât think I should be forced to have it, anyway.â
âHe drives a hard bargain, your son,â said Obi-Wan, leaning in to beg a small kiss.
âAh, but of course,â said Satine, quick to grant his request. âHe gets that from you, cyare.â
--
âAh, ner wer'ika! Ni mirdir tion'tuur gar ru'kel olaror. Bic cuyir ori'udes tion'tuur gar cuyir dar.â - Ah, my little terror! I was wondering when you might show up. It has been far too quiet without you.
âTe jatne mind jo'lekir ti astâ - The best mind agrees with itself. (read: Great minds think alike.)
adâika, dinui, cyare - little one, gift, beloved.
MORE SOULMATE AU HEADCANONS
Someone called the first set cute and I am unbelievably determined to make their goddamn day/night now, also, just realized you could get around the talking barrier with your soulmate if you direct your speaking at yourself, though I imagine that would be quite hard without a lot of focus or practice, so Iâm implementing that in this set, hope you enjoy!!
WARNING: For Midoriya Izuku - Mentions of past fish death; For Umino Iruka - Mentions of his parents passing; and For Erza Scarlet - Death, the Tenrou island incident, signs of depression and loss of a loved one [It turns happy though]
SOULMATE AU HEADCANONS FOR: Izuku Midoriya, Iruka Umino, Erza Scarlet
Izuku Midoriya
Welcome to your own personal hero encyclopedia
Literally your best friend when it comes to quizzes and homework
If you so much as mutter to yourself a question
He is mumbling to himself the answer and all the steps to solve it
Brain = Autopilot
He doesnât even consider that you might have been rhetorical
Or that you might be taking a quiz
Soulmate asked a question and heâd rather die than not mutter the answer to himself under his breath so his soulmate can hear
Heâs your worst enemy sometimes too though
Trying to sleep? Nah, listen to him fanboy over a hero documentary instead
Trying to have a little you time? Funny joke, youâre learning about All Might now
You now know the weirdest facts about heroes
And events that most teachers donât know about
May I suggest a heroics history teaching job?
Unfortunately, you also have to listen to his crying
I donât mean it in a bad way
But you have no way to comfort him
Literally all you want to do is give him a hug and comfort him
But all you can do is say comforting words to yourself
Hoping heâll hear them over his broken, heart wrenching sobs
But donât worry, he does, he hears everything you say to yourself
He has a notebook dedicated to you and o n l y you
He nearly ripped Bakugoâs head off when the blonde accidentally burnt itâs pages when they were younger
Yeah, fun times [Bakugo double checked that it was the h e r o notebook and not the s o u l m a t e notebook when he burnt it in middle school, never again would he risk hearing his last name be spit venomously from the green haired males mouth]
He writes down anything he deems memorable [AKA nearly everything] that you say
He notes things you have difficulty towards academically and makes sure to break it down and read the now less complex version aloud in hopes heâs helped you
He has, heâs probably the main reason youâre in the top 5 academically
But also he loves hearing your meaningless rambles
You have scared him a few times
âWait, is he dead? Oh no! Please donât tell me heâs dead!â
w h a t
âI donât think I can handle mom crying over another fish.â
Oh, just a fish, thank All Might, he nearly went into cardiac arrest
They brighten his day, and he canât wait to meet you and tell you just how thankful he is that youâre his soulmate
Just like you canât wait to hit him upside the head for all the sleepless nights heâs caused with his fanboy behavior
Okay, but when you do meet, you immediately ask for Bakugo
You give zero fucks about possibly being expelled/sent to prison
Hell hath no fury like you who had to listen to their soulmates broken cries over the blondes treatment for years
And Izuku can only hold you back for so long
He definitely wants to see your quirk in action when you meet
And when demonstrating heâs mumbling all the uses and possible ideas
While also complimenting you and how amazing you are
He doesnât even notice heâs doing it
If you do it back, he WILL blue screen
Midoriya Izuku.exe has stopped working
He literally freezes on the spot
Iruka Umino
Oh do we love our dear teacher
Maybe a little too much
But we donât talk about that
IRUKA IS THE TYPE TO MUTTER A SWEET SOFT âGood morning my soulmateâ TO HIMSELF EVERY DAY AS HE WAKES UP SO YOU CAN HEAR IT AND YOU CANâT CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE
He will also say other things, like âI made pancakes for breakfast, I wish you were here to enjoy themâ
And call you sweet pet names like âDearâ âDarlingâ âHoneyâ etc. and when heâs feeling especially corny âSnookumsâ or something really out there when he feels like you need a good laugh like âCookie Cutterâ
No, I'm serious, if he thinks youâre sad, he w i l l say âHey there, howâs my little cookie cutter?â to himself in a half joking tone in hopes of brightening your day
You can pry this headcanon from my cold, dead hands
He loves it if you mutter responses to yourself for him to hear in return
His heart will melt the moment he hears you say âGood morningâ back, or if you mention wanting to cook for him
He also loves it if you give lesson plan advice to him
Like, heâll be muttering about the best way to teach his class how to throw shuriken and your voice will pop up in his head with friendly advice
Makes him wonder if youâre a teacher too, or if youâre planning to become one
Secretly hopes youâre planning to become a teaching aid, because A) Work and soulmate at the same time? Yes please, and B) Kami knows he needs help with his rowdy class
If you are, heâs sure to be over the moon when he finds out
In his younger days, before teaching, he definitely went on missions and looked for you when he could
Like, yes, the mission is important, but finding the owner to the beautiful voice in his head is ALSO important
Heâd usually finish the mission and stay an extra one or two days looking for you
It didnât really cross his mind till later that you could be in the Leaf Village, since he figured he would have already found you if he did
Till he saw people older than him who grew up in the village only just finding out they were soulmates
He went on less out of village missions after that
Till eventually he decided to become a teacher
When I tell you this man melts when you talk
I mean he MELTS
He loves your voice so much
It helped him through his parents deaths
Helped him when he felt at his lowest points
Youâve done so much for him, and heâs so thankful, heâs fallen so deeply in love with you and you havenât properly met yet!
He still wants to marry you on the spot though
Itâs not a strange sight to see him browsing rings
Or thinking of how heâd propose
Youâll never let him know that heâs unconsciously spoken out loud about it a few times
Not until you meet, then youâll mention it
And never let him live it down
âYou know, Iâve heard you say you wanted to marry me on the spot, is that still on the menu orâŠ?â
Yeah, when you first meet each other, thatâs the first thing that pops out of your mouth
And it has his face burning red
Heâs stumbling through his words, trying to convey that yes, he would like to marry you, but he needs your ring size first to go buy the ring
Trust me, this man has made enough trips to know what ring, he just needs the size
Then heâll be down on one knee quicker that Shisuiâs Shunshin no Jutsu
The fact that you seem okay with it also seals the deal for him
Heâs so ecstatic when you meet each other
He feels like he could take on Madara one v one and win
Heâs so unbelievably happy
Like heâs convincing you to take a photo so he can frame it on his desk and always remember happy
Heâs so cute and blushy about it too
Rambles about never wanting to forget the best day of his life so far
âSo far?â âWell, yeah, I imagine marrying you will take the spot soonâ
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THIS BOY WILL MAKE YOUR HEART SWOON!!!
Heâs so giddy about introducing you to his class too
Especially Naruto
[Mostly Naruto]
Heâs showing you off and preening at the congratulations his class gives
And later on introducing you to Naruto personally
As much as he loves his class, he adores Naruto, and really hopes you both get along well
And you do
And it was the worst mistake of Iruka's life
[or best as both you and Naruto often correct him]
Honestly you probably convinced him to at least bring up the possibility of Adoption to Naruto
Which has Naruto howling in excitement and agreeableness
The boy looks up to him and they both have such a father/son dynamic, let me have this dammit
[Also, being able to get Naruto to be the ring bearer/flower boy? P r i c e l e s s]
He loves his family, so very much
And is so thankful that you convinced him to adopt Naruto
The man has been debating on if Naruto would want to be his son or not for ages, you can NOT tell me otherwise
You also canât tell me Naruto wouldnât jump at the chance to have Iruka as his father
Erza Scarlet
Sheâs so eager to find you
Sheâs spent so long perfecting the art of speaking to you despite the barrier
And sheâs always so responsive to you
Always talking about the adventures she's had
What she wants to do with you when you find each other
And sheâs always so happy when you do the same
Sheâs always been responsive with you, even though the beginning was a bit rough with communication
So when she suddenly goes radio silent, it scares you, it hurts when you come to the realization that sheâs dead
She can hear you, even in her deep sleep on Tenrou Island
And itâs heartbreaking
Your cries
The endless broken sobs
âIâm so sorry I never got to meet youâ No, Iâm still here!
âHey soulmate wha- oh, right, youâre..â Iâm not dead! I promise Iâll be there soon!
To say the least, itâs a long 7 years
And you never did get over your soulmates tragic death
Though you did find out who she might have been
Hurts more knowing how she passed on though
She always spoke of her guild, Fairy Tail, and you had been saving up enough jewels to go there, in hopes of finding her
You know she must have been on Tenrou when it fell
And by deductive evidence, it must have been the S class wizard
Erza Scarlet, youâre soulmate
Dead, soulmate
You joined not long after the news had spread
Figured it might help with the ache
It didnât
But you grew to love the guild anyways
They welcomed you as family
Because to them, you already were
Erza spoke so highly of you
Always talking about how amazing her soulmate was, and everything she wanted to do with them when they met
And it was because of that you were able to deduce that she is your soulmate
Was, your soulmate
It wasnât an odd sight to see you crying when the Tenrou group was brought up
Or after a particular rough beating from the Twilight Ogre guild
They watched you slowly fall apart when you tried speaking to her
Helped put you back together when you remembered she wasnât on the other side
And eventually you began healing
Never getting over her or forgetting her
You could never forget her
And broke down just thinking about trying to find another
You took to talking to her in hopes she could still hear you in the afterlife
Talk about your day
How the guild is doing
If there was a particularly rough beating from the other guild
It hurt, much worse than when you forgot that she wasnât there
But you carried on, believing that if she could hear you, sheâd want to know
She adores that about you, your will to carry on, even though it hurts
And sheâs sure to leave nothing but corpses in Twilight Ogre for all the years of torment
When Blue Pegasus found remains of the Island, no one stopped you from boarding the ship
They knew you needed this, more than the rest of them
You needed to know if she was really gone or not
And when you caught sight of scarlet red hair
You wept
Sheâs here
Sheâs alive
She turned the moment she heard your voice weekly call for her
To say your first meeting was filled with tears would be an understatement
You were attached by the hip from that point on
Not that either of you were complaining
Erza was especially ecstatic to have you by her side finally
After all, she had 7 years to make up for
And you can show her where Twilight Ogre is
The Master and Mira didnât question why she was especially rough with a select few members
I Hope you enjoyed reading this set of Soulmate AU HCâs! If you would like to see any specific characters, donât be afraid to leave a comment or submit an ask! If itâs a character Iâm not familiar with, Iâll do my best to learn about them!!
Signs
Hi all! I hope you enjoy part 4 of my Hero of Wild series. For more information on the signs, please click here if youâre interested.Â
I just wanted to be upfront and say that this is in no way an exact portrayal of ASL or the culture surrounding it. Hylians are fictional and would therefore have different signs. I based it off of vocabulary from ASL. I know basic sign to help my fellow peers in Special Education, but I am not fluent and am only basing it loosely off of ASL and putting a twist on it I think Wildâs Hyrule would have developed over the centuries. I of course donât know Wildâs Hyruleâs sign, so these are just my personal headcanons for how I think it would be. Thank you!
~
âI think we need to make name signs for ourselves.â Twilight pitched his idea while Sky was off distracting Wild. They were currently in Skyâs Hyrule on the surface. Wildâs first time going through a portal went well enough. He went through last with his hand on his slate. Twilight assumed it felt a little bit like a trap, that a group he didnât know very well told him to go through a mysterious portal. Wild seemed used to strange magic at least, or whatever his slate was. Wild had told Twilight it wasnât magic but Twilight had a hard time believing that.Â
It seemed their new member was similar to their traveler in the fact they had to do their best to keep them from running away to explore. Still they both often ran off the path when they saw something interesting to them, Four and Wind joining them sometimes.Â
Twilight had told Sky his idea of giving signs to each of them for Wild to communicate better and quicker. If he needed a specific item from someone during a fight, quick and efficient would be key. Not to mention the kid shouldnât have to be forced to finger spell one of their names everytime. Sky smiled and told him what a great idea that was, and that he would give Wild a miniature tour while Twilight brought it up to the group. He didnât want to spring it upon both Wild and the other Links at the same time, that just seemed like a recipe for disaster.Â
âName signs? You mean in sign language?â Legend asked curiously.
âYeah for Wild. It makes no sense to have the kid continuously fingerspell out names.â Twilight confirmed glancing over to Time.
âIâve been meaning to ask about that. Since our nicknames are more based on nature or objects, why doesnât Wild just use his signs? Why doesnât he just sign Sky?â Warriors asked carefully.
âThatâs a slippery slope.â Four spoke for Twilight. âThat could cause confusion based on context. It would be easier to assign specific names.âÂ
âThat sounds cool but how do we do that?â Wind asked with a tilted head.
âWell when I was working with my grandfather, a girl my age and her family came in. She couldnât hear very well so her family learned sign. Her father talked to my grandfather about it. Apparently itâs easiest if you take a personality or a defining characteristic, like a personality or hair color or something, and have a twist to it. Her name was Lily, so they signed the sign for a lily flower with the sign for I think happy in front of it? I donât remember very well but itâs like that.â Four spoke up. The others nodded in interest and began whispering about what their signs could be.Â
âThatâs a good idea. Should we just do our hero titles and a defining trait?â Warriors asked.
âThat sounds fine, but we should probably ask Wild what he wants since he will be the main person using them.â Time spoke up, to which the group all agreed.Â
âOkay well I sent Sky off with him. I didnât want to spring this upon everyone at once.â Twilight stated, barely resisting beaming when Time nodded in approval.Â
âGood idea, Pup.â Time smiled as the group descended into evening chatter once again. It hadnât been a hard day of travel, but it had been longer than usual to find a space Sky deemed safe enough. For now the group settled down for the evening.Â
~
Wild didnât know why Sky was distracting him but he played along for now, doing well to hide his nerves. Maybe he had done something wrong? Something the group hadnât liked? Sky seemed too nice to be leading him to his execution, but maybe that was the point. Sky seemed too nice in general. He was far too warm and accepting to him, especially right away. He wasnât an idiot, he knew the others stared at his scars when they thought he wasnât looking. Had the Master Sword told Sky of his failure? Perhaps the group knew of him dying 100 years ago, and they were going to take care of him before it happened again.Â
It was a shame. Wild liked them so far, especially Twilight. He seemed so warm and willing to help. And Hyrule seemed similar to Wild in their love of exploring. And Four was accepting of almost anyone, no matter what. Was it all a facade? Knowing Wildâs luck it certainly was. He didnât think they were Yiga, the Master Sword soothed those fears and told Wild to trust them without using any words at all. Yet that was before they truly knew him. Had the Master Sword changed its mind?Â
If he was ambushed by the very group he was supposed to trust, fellow Heroes of Courage, he knew a part of him would die. Even if he didnât know them very well, they were a part of his past, present, and perhaps his future. Incarnations of the same soul passed down and changed for millenia. If they deemed Wild unworthy, he would move on, but a deep part of him would remember and always feel pain that his own past incarnations hated him.Â
Still for now he listened to Sky talk about his Hyrule. If he wasnât so deep in his thoughts he would find it more fascinating, but he had plenty to bring back to Zelda. If he made it back to her. Another wave of fear swept over him. What if the group was the only way to get to other worlds? He couldnât make portals appear on a whim! According to Time, Hylia herself even seemed to struggle to put them in the right place! If they ambushed him, he would fight and he would run. But would he be trapped in a distant Hyrule forever, centuries apart from the Goron, Rito, Gerudo, Zora, and most importantly Zelda? If he had no way to return to his Hyrule that he knew and loved, he would be trapped in this warped reality, forever hunted by the real Link who lived here. Leaving Zelda to fix the kingdom he had a hand in ruining.Â
Wild (perhaps he wouldnât have that name for long now, although he truly loved it), barely noticed them approaching their campsite for the evening. Wild readied his hand to launch to his slate. He wasnât going down without a fight, but he would never attack these fellow heroes first. Wild was met with the curious eyes of the other Links around what would soon be a cooking fire.Â
This was it.Â
âSo, Wild.â Twilight spoke up. Oh Hylia, why did it have to be Twilight? The very man who offered comfort after his first nightmare within the group. Had he forsaken Hylia that much? âWe were talking, and we thought maybe you could teach us some more of your sign? Since itâs changed so much over the years. And maybe we could come up with name signs for each other to make communicating easier?â
Oh.
~
Wild looked genuinely shocked at the boys wanting to learn his language, which made Twilight feel far more sad than he was expecting. Between his distrust of any other Hylians and his shock at someone wanting to communicate with him in his own way, it was clear that there had been many people who had hurt Wild.Â
âYou donât have to.â Wild signed, snapping out of his shock.
âWe want to Wild.â Wind reassured, along with the rest of the group. Wild could feel his face warming up, not knowing what to say. He thought they were going to hunt him!Â
âUm. Well we were thinking you could teach us how to say our hero titles, and then we could all choose a personality or physical trait that defines us? And we could combine them to make the name sign? Itâs completely up to you, itâs just an idea.â Twilight pitched.Â
â...are you sure?â Wild signed hesitantly. He didnât want to make any trouble within the group.
âYeah Wild! It sounds fun anyway!â Wind exclaimed, attempting to dial up his excited tone to assure Wild they were happy to do it.Â
âOkay. Thank you.â Wild signed as heartfelt as he could. The rest of the team smiled at the boyâs acceptance.Â
âAre you okay with the idea we had to make them?â Time asked, to which Wild simply nodded. âOkay, weâll have you combine them, but let us know if itâs too complicated and weâll choose something else.â Wild nodded at Time once again, signaling that was fine with him.
âOkay! Who wants to go first?â Twilight clapped his hands, glancing around the group members.
âI can. Iâm fine with anything thatâs not insulting.â Legend volunteered, tacking on the end when he noticed Warriorsâ large smile.Â
âWell thatâs easy! You have a pink strand of hair, and your name is Legend! Letâs combine those!â Wind said excitedly. Legend simply shrugged in acceptance.Â
âWild, how do you say those?â Wild paused for a moment. Legend was a person and not a fairy tale, so he should use the sign that leaned more towards legacy and not stories. He placed his left hand, the index finger straight up, the middle finger at an angle while the rest of his fingers curled down. Making a downward stroking potion with the curved finger on his chin, mouthing pink along with the sign. Wild then formed his hands into curved triangles, pinching his fingers together. Placing his hands in front of him with the left above the right, making two motions to shift the hands from the left side of his body to the right. To his surprise the rest of the group copied it to the best of their ability, including Legend who didnât even seem to want to participate in this.Â
âIâm fine with that.â Legend stated simply, confirming the sign as his. No one brought up him practicing it close to his chest for far longer than necessary.Â
âI assume mine is going to be Time and Old Man?â Time asked in amusement.
âNah, we can do better than that.â Warriors smirked. âHow about your ocarina? We could combine Time and music?â Warriors pitched. Time nodded, he enjoyed that well enough. He silently appreciated that it also connected him to the Kokiri.Â
Wild nodded and mouthed time as he moved his right hand like a dial before shifting to the sign for music, moving his right hand in a sweeping motion above his left arm cradled to his chest. The rest of the group copied, Time nodded.Â
âIf weâre in battle, you can sign these with one hand right? The rest of us should be able to know what youâre referring to.â Four asked Wild, who smiled and nodded.
âLetâs do Four next!â Sky spoke up.Â
âIsn't the sign for Four still just four fingers held up?â Four asked curiously.
âUgh thatâs boring. What if youâre âColorsâ instead because of your tunic?â Wind questioned.Â
âWind! Donât call the Hero of Four Swordsâ title boring!â Sky chided, although Four looked oddly pleased at the idea of being deemed âColorsâ in sign.Â
âI like it. Maybe with metal or blacksmithing?â Four nodded to Wild. Wildâs nose scrunched up thought, before nodding brightly. âColorâ he mouthed as he spread his left palm out, facing his chin as he tapped the index and middle finger against it. The rest of the group copied. Wild then moved the âmetalâ which shifted to the hand being in a hook shape, tapping the index finger on his chin once again.
âThatâs easy enough.â Fourâs small smile had grown the slightest bit wider at his sign. Four was sure it wasnât as sophisticated as a group of people who were more involved with sign could come up with, but this worked perfectly for their new team.
âMe next!â Wind waved his hand. âWell thereâs wind and then⊠something with music! No! Something with boats! Or pirates! No the sea! That incorporates it all!â Wind yelled out his ideas in rapid succession. Wild waited until the teen finally settled on wind and sea. Wild bit his lip. That would be sort of hard to combine. He used the sign for âSeaâ, the left palm spread out and facing to the side, tapping his index finger on his chin. Although instead of finishing the sign in the normal fashion, he shifted it to the sign for Wind, keeping his palms spread and facing each other. He then moved his hands in two little circles.Â
âThat's perfect!â Wind exclaimed while copying the motion many more times.
Wild pointed to Warriors next.Â
âOh, me next?â Warriors asked. Wild nodded, he had a good idea for Warriors. He moved his right hand in a curly zigzag with three curves. âDoes that not combine anything?â Warriors asked, seemingly hiding his disappointment that it seemed not much thought was out in it. Wild bit his lip, taking out the journal Four had given him for talking around the campfire when his signs were too complicated.Â
âIt combines the sign for sword fight and soldier with the sign for writing. You seem to like writing and drawing in your books. Do you want a new one?â Wild wrote on one of the pages before passing it to Warriors. Realization dawned on him as he read the pages.Â
âOh! Sorry Wild I was just confused. I thought it was just a sign for sword. No, I like it!â Warriors smiled at Wild as he passed the book around for the others to see. There were a couple comments about how it fit well and how Wild was good at this, which made Wild blush lightly.Â
âHow about me?â Sky asked after a moment of silence, being careful not to speak over anyone else.
âWhat do you want your characteristic to be?â Four asked. âMaybe warm? You have a very warm personality.â Four smirked at Skyâs blush.
âI was thinking maybe red? My loftwing that I told you about is crimson colored.â Sky asked Wild. âIf not that's okay I can think of something else.â Wild smiled and shook his head, this one would be easy! He mouthed âredâ, stroking his chin twice with his left index finger, the rest of his fingers curled in a fist. He then mouth âskyâ as he swept his arm grandly upwards towards the trees above.Â
âThatâs pretty! Will you understand it if we use a smaller motion for the sky sign? Just if weâre in a rush?â Sky questioned. Wild thought for a minute. It was slightly similar to other signs in different contexts if the motions were smaller, but having the red in front of it would solidify what they were saying. After a few moments of thought, Wild nodded.
âFor mine, maybe we should do what we did for Four and not use my hero title? Just because my name is already confusing sometimes with Hyrule the land and Hyrule me.â Hyrule spoke up, looking slightly sheepish.
âIf thatâs what you're comfortable with âRule.â Legend reassured. âHow about Traveler?â
Wild started furiously scribbling before Hyrule could confirm that he liked that name, everyone pausing to let Wild finish.
âI donât know traveler in sign, I canât remember and no one ever taught me again, itâs just blank. I would usually just say yes to being a traveler or say Iâm a wanderer. Sorry Hyrule.â As if to express his apology more clearly, Wild had drawn a large sad face next to the text he had written. Wild always wrote extremely small in his book, as if not wanting to overuse the gift Four had given him. It was a nice change of pace to see something larger on the pages.Â
âThatâs okay, Wild! Iâm okay with Wanderer too!â Hyrule laughed. âWhat about the other sign?âÂ
âHow about magic? No oneâs better at magic than you âRule.â Twilight suggested, causing Hyrule to burn red.
âI mean I just needed it for my journey. Itâs fun though! I like being able to take out a bunch of monsters at the same time-â Wild tuned out Hyruleâs explanation to think of how to combine those signs. He tried to make them easy and short, for both battle and for conversation. He waited until the group quieted down, turning their attention to him. He mouthed âwandererâ as he swayed his right index finger back and forth. He would replace the beginning of the magic sign with that, instead of clenching his fingers together. He then mouthed âmagicâ, quickly clenching a fist and releasing it with flare, as if casting a spell on the ground below.Â
âI love it!â Hyrule beamed as the others repeated the sign.
âMy turn I suppose?â Twilight turned to Wild, who was writing on the page again.Â
âI canât say twilight, but I can say dusk.â The page said.Â
âThatâs alright.â Twilight reassured.Â
âWhatâs his other name going to be?â Wind asked the group.Â
âCountry?âÂ
âGoats?â
âRancher?â Wild pondered all of these suggestions. Nothing quite fit together. An idea struck Wildâs brain like lightning when he had his royal claymore out in a storm.Â
âWolf.â Wild wrote in large letters on half of the page so everyone could see. The others looked slightly confused, but Wild simply pointed to the pelt on Twilightâs shoulders.Â
âWild, are you sure?â Twilight asked, gritting his teeth slightly.Â
âWhat Wild says goes. Besides, I think it suits you just fine, Pup.â Time spoke over the others, enunciating the word âPupâ with all the teasing venom he had, causing the group to roar with laughter. Twilight couldnât believe this! Betrayed! By his own mentor! Although all of Twilightâs rage dissipated when he looked over to see Wild silently shaking with laughter. As usual the boy made no noise with his mouth, but he didnât have to. Twilight could see the joy on his face. It struck him that he had never seen Wild laugh like that before, but it seemed natural, like he should be doing it all the time. Twilight supposed if this was the result he didnât mind the sign so much. Besides, he secretly liked it anyway.Â
Wild waited for the group to calm down before making Twilightâs sign. He mouth âwolfâ as he formed what looked to be a snout in front of his face, keeping his thumb and index finger together, he made a circle and brought it down. Twilight actually really liked his sign, he thought it reflected him very well.Â
âThank you.â Wild said again once they were done assigning names, being met with a chorus of âno problemâ and âof courseâ. Wild started to stand to make the cooking fire for dinner tonight, committing all the signs to his memory. Ever since he had joined, he had taken over the cooking in the evenings. In the mornings a lot of people did their own thing. Some made themselves a full meal, while others just ate an apple on the road later when they were actually hungry.Â
âWait, Wild!â Wind piped, causing Wild to freeze. Oh no had he forgotten someone? That would be so embarrassing.Â
âYou forgot your name sign!â Sky finished. Wildâs nose scrunched up once again, picking up the journal once again.
âI can just refer to myself?â Wild was confused as to why he needed one. The others seemed to be alright at talking, but maybe Wild was mistaken.Â
âWell yeah, but you gave us all names, itâs our turn.â Hyrule began.
âAnd at this point it might as well be a team thing.â Four finished. Wildâs brain went blank for a moment. A team thing? He was a part of the team now? Officially? Wild didnât expect anything to solidify that, he was just expecting to continue to trail along like a lost puppy. Wild bit back a smile and nodded.Â
âOkay we have to make this one really good.âÂ
âIt at least has to involve nature.â
âAnd destruction.âÂ
âReally Legend?â
âWhat? You saw how the guy fought that Lynel. Make his name fire or something.â
âNo! It has to be something cool like morning wood or something.â
âNo no no no no no no no no.â
âWhat why? Itâs cool?â
âWind, no!â
âBut why?â
âIâll explain when youâre older.â
âOh fuck you!â
âWhat about fire and grass?â Twilight called out, halting all conversations. The group looked at him curiously. âIt shows his Wild title and his Hyrule. Also he lit a shit ton of grass on fire when we met him. The group all nodded, deeming this title fighting of their new member.
âIs that okay, Wild?â Sky asked gently. Wild nodded enthusiastically. Grass and fire, some his favorite things. He mouth âgrassâ as he tucked his thumb against his right palm, sweeping his index finger over the side of his mouth once before dragging it down in front of his chest in a circle to imitate flames.  Â
âPerfect!â Twilight resisted clapping his hand on Wildâs shoulder. The rest of the group was fine with casual touching, Twilight had to keep reminding himself that Wild was different in that aspect. That was fine, they were figuring it out one by one.Â
The group settled down once again to chat while Wild cooked dinner, signing as best as they could as they talked. Even though Wild could hear them fine, it was good practice. Overall, it looked to be a peaceful evening.Â
âWait, can someone do the signs for me again?â
I just found your blog and your writing is super good! Could you do some headcanons for Sasuke falling in love with his best friend, who he's known pretty much all his life? Thank you :)
A/N: first off, thank you!! I did this head canon kinda in a time line type thing because it felt more.. âšD R A M A T I Câš that way, but it ended up really angsty and long.. we love a slow burn! anyways.. enjoy!
Also.. I needed to create a version of our wonderful y/n where they could relate to Sasukes pain. I donât think he could have a best friend who didnât experience that same feeling of losing people so close to you. Therefore, TW: death, parental death
LMAO AND BRUH I proofread this 20 times but I kept adding things so everytime I proofread I would have to re read again and it was a never ending cycle and I fininshed this at around 3 am so I canât tell if itâs proofread well enough but Iâm so tried please-
â Sasuke falling for his bestfriend
Youâve known Sasuke since he was young, before the the murder of his clan. You werenât an Uchiha, but you met him through the academy. On your first day you were really nervous but also really excited because you had something to prove. You may have been the underdog in your very complicated family, but that stopped now. Both you and Sasuke could sense that same drive to prove your worth in eachother and so you instantly took a liking to one another. Through the passing weeks you two quickly became friends.
You lost your mom due to an illness and your dad was succumbing to the same disease as well. You werenât the richest family, your mom left behind three kids; Yourself and your two older brothers. Thatâs quite a lot of mouths to feed. Thing is, one is in the Anbu and the other is a Chunin and they both donât talk to you very much. Your dad being sick as well, he could not make you your meals or do your laundry. Those were all things you learned to do on your own. Your brothers ignored you for the most part and you could tell they thought of you as a nuisance, often having to clean up after your messes, but you believed that the day you would become a ninja is the day that would all change.
You remember telling Sasuke about that and he said he could relate to those things. The feeling of being the weaker kid, the one that fell behind sometimes. He experienced that himself too. This all just made you two a lot closer as the two of you knew you had someone to turn to when you felt like that.
After the murder of the Uchihas, he became very distant. Which you figured was natural, he needed some time alone. You remembered what you felt like when you lost your mom and so you gave him space. It took a while but a few months later he started to slowly join you for practice at the academy or sit by you at lunch time, but the second you tried to bring up his family and if he ever wanted to talk about it, he would shrug you off and completely shut the idea down, so you left it alone.
If ever he wanted company, to quell his loneliness - even if it was for a few brief moments, it seemed like you were always there to help. Even when he was in a sour mood and he would snap at you, you would give him this look, like you knew deep down knew that he didnât mean it and he was just venting. That didnât mean the words didnât cut deep sometimes, in fact youâd cried in a few particularly nasty drawls he had. He would always end up apologizing, even if he didnât say the exact three words, you could tell he was making a valiant effort to show you he cared about you.
And it felt nice. To have a friend like that, that could relieve some of your loneliness. You knew what it was like to be on your own at a very young age and so you offered him help in doing laundry and cooking and cleaning, until he started to figure it out more himself. You may never feel the pain that he has, but you had a glimpse of it before, and it comforted him to know that he wasnât suffering alone.
The only person who could ever really crack a smile on his face was you, leading up to your graduation from the academy the two of you had grown to be closer than ever. It felt like you understood him. If he needed time alone you pulled back, if he wanted time with you, you would make the effort to make it happen. He didnât want a clingy friendship and you respected that.
However, he did want to be on a squad with you. Once you both graduated from the academy both your goals seemed closer than before. You were going to be an amazing ninja, so amazing that your brothers would have no choice but to acknowledge you and Sasuke was going to be an avenger of his clan. You were going to help eachother grow to that point together. So it bummed you both out when you werenât on the same squads. You felt a little jealous, knowing that he was with Sakura. She was a nice girl, for the most part, but you didnât like how she always threw herself at Sasuke. You were the only girl in your squad and the boys you were with were pretty friendly, Sasuke didnât like that either. You both never said anything about to eachother that of course.
After you would both train in your respective squads, youâd eat lunch together or walk around and talk about what transpired. He would always talk about Naruto, well complain more than talk, and it kind of made you feel sad. You could see right through him, Narutos felt his pain too. The two of them could try to deny it, but they admired eachother a lot. With all the missions you two had to go on, time with eachother became a very limited precious. Meanwhile, his bond with Naruto and Sakura became stronger. The same could be said for you and your team. You had actually grown to like one another and your skills complimented eachother perfectly.
So your hangouts kind of came to a stop for a while. He would hang out with his own team after missions and training and you would hang out with yours. Sometimes he would stop by your place and you would talk for a while, but then heâd be called off for a mission or dragged away by Naruto and Sakura. You were happy he was making friends and if that meant you didnât have as much time with him, than that was okay. Afterall you werenât completely alone anymore either.
It was when your dad finally succumbed to his disease that your ties to one another became almost completely severed. Your dad was the last family member that believed in you and spent time with you. You fed him and helped him more than any of your brothers and he was that last bit of encouragment in your life. That candle of hope in your heart began to flicker helplessly. It was holding onto the flame with weak and tired arms, there was only a bit of a glimmer of light left in your life.. and that light was your friend Sasuke.
Even if he was preoccupied with missions, when he heard the news that your dad passed away, he spent as much time as he could with you. Like him though, you tried to brush it off and would change the subject whenever he tried to get you to talk about it. You were bottling it all up just like he was and he was sad that he didnât know how to help you. All he knew was that he had to be with you to help you get through this.
That didnât really work though, the chunin exams began around the same time as your fathers passing. So once again you didnât see Sasuke for long periods of time and honestly, you werenât thinking about him. Your mind was still more than occupied with the loss of your father. Plus, your sensei didnât nominate your squad for the Chunin exams and as much as you hated to admit it.. It had made you a little bitter to think that Sasuke would be taking that next step without you.
After the village was invaded by the Sound and Orochimaru, the two of you oddly enough became close again. It was strange that it was that event that brought you back together again. He filled you in with everything that was happening to him. He showed you the curse mark, (he didnât even hesitate to show you.) Almost like he was asking for your help, but you didnât know what you could do.. the mark worried you a lot. And this Orochimaru... you had never heard that name before, but little did you know how his name would be burnt into your mind later on.
You werenât there when Sasuke left the village to join Orochimaru. Thatâs probably what made it so easy for him to go. If you had been there and asked him to stay instead of Sakura, he would have thought twice. But no, your squad was sent away on a really important mission at that time, it was a chance to prove yourself after missing out on missions due to the loss of your father. When you got back and heard the news from Sakura - a girl who you remembered was obsessed with him - you didnât believe it at first. It took the Hokage to actually convince you.
Why would he leave? Werenât you on a path together?
But when you got back to your own apartment â you had moved away from your brothers with the money you got from missions â there was a letter on your bed, it was from Sasuke. He had written to you about how he was still an avenger and would never manage to be one if he stayed here. You kept re reading his last sentence over and over again.
Donât come looking for me, itâs no use, I wonât come back. This is the path Iâve chosen. Itâs the path I need to take.
It basically felt like your heart was ripped out and that last flicker of light in your life went out. You tore up the letter and then cried with regret as you tried to put it back together. You were angry, but there was no way you were going to let him do this to himself. Damn the path heâs chosen, you wonât let him take it.
So from then on, you insisted to the hokage that you were sent in missions involving Orochimaru or retrieving Sasuke. Thatâs what lead you to a new team: Sai, Sakura and Naruto with Yamato as the captain. It also lead you right into Orochimarus hideout.
Originally you were just supposed to investigate a tip from Sasori about a spy working to gain information on Orochimaru, but that mission lead to a whole bigger thing, Orochimarus hideout.
Your team found Sasuke, only to have him try and kill Naruto and probably the rest of you if he had the chance. You tried to convince him to come back, but he wouldnât have it, in fact, when you spoke it felt like it angered him even more. It made you want grab him and shake some sense into him. 3 years had gone by and he still didnât want to come back, he wanted to be orochimarus vessel...
He was really harsh towards Naruto, but also towards you. He had snapped his attention to you when you had come running into the crater he had created. He would be lying if he said his breath didnât hitch at the sight of you, but he hid his feelings well.
âTch... Y/n, so this is how youâve been spending your time.. After all these years?Trying to bring me back.. I guess your brothers were right about you, you really are pathetic.â
But then you hit him with that look, the one you used to give him when he would get harsh with you as kids, the one that knew he didnât mean it and he suddenly had the urge to look away in shame. He was angered that he didnât the reaction he wanted out of you, he wanted hurt you and push you away, but you refused to give into him. Youâre born so stubborn. That was why you had always been such good friends.
When Orochimaru interfered and they escaped, the last thing he heard was you, âwake up, Sasuke. Youâre not meant to be with these people and you know it.â He couldnât tell if your voice was disappointed, hurt, disgusted or whatever it may beïżŒïżŒ, but he didnât like it.
Anyways, once they were gone he couldnât stop thinking about you. So you were still thinking about him? After all this time... You even got yourself involved with Naruto and Sakura. He didnât like that he cared about the fact that you didnât forget about him. Truth is, he needed to forget about you. Thatâs if he was going to avenge his clan. You werenât apart of his path anymore, you couldnât be apart of his path anymore.
Itâs not like he had stopped thinking about you for the past three years, in fact, you were frequently on his mind. He had managed to suppress it though, it only took him a good two years. The past year he had begun to flush away you and his old teammates. All that work was useless now because he had just seen you again in real life and you were grown up now, that made everything so much harder. What were you doing that very moment? Sleeping? Out with your team? Thinking of him? He wanted to rage everytime he let his mind wander like that.
After that encounter, the first one you two have had in three years, your face was burned into dreams and waking thoughts. You really grew up. You werenât just some little kid with a dream anymore, you had started on your own path too. He noticed you were taller and you werenât too awkward in your body like you used to be, with legs a little to long and feet a little too small. Despite those little quirks, he always had an attraction to you, but now there was more of a deeper feeling, a stronger admiration than before... and boy did it pissed him off.
He had been pushing those feelings away from him ever since the death of his clan. It was easier to do it when you were both still awkward little kids. But now that you were taller, you actually started caring for the way you looked and you were wearing more fitted clothes.... stop. You were more than determined too, your drive was strong and it felt like you were not only stronger physically now but also stronger emotionally.
It took him a while to actually accept it, but it was true, he had fallen for you. He realized it when he was laying down in his room in one of Orochimarus hideouts. He had loved you all along and now more than ever, he realized he wanted a future with you, even though it seemed virtually impossible at this point. That didnât mean he wasnât willing to fight for it. He felt like he was back at the academy again and all the feelings he had been trying to push away came crashing down on him at once. It was a few days before he was supposed to become Orochimarus vessel, and he knew then, if he became that vessel, he would never have that chance to be with you. To have a life with you. No matter how much he tried to suppress it and fight it, he couldnât run from his feelings. You had been there for him through everything and you were still fighting for him now, even after all that heâs done.
So there, Alone in that dark room, He decided that he would not give himself up for Orochimaru, not while you were srstill cared for him.
So I decided to end it here on a cliff hanger bc Iâm not about to write all of shonen Jump and shippuden into a head canon even though my brain wants me too... I will do a part 2 down the line all the way up to the end of shippuden if y'all want tho bc I thrive off that demanding shit and thats on periodÂ
---------------------------------------------------
Chapter 14
In all the years Ron had known Hermione, he'd never seen her more frightened than when the memories of what had happened to her resurfaced. And resurface they did, mostly at night when she was trying to sleep.Â
Ever since the first time, she'd refused to stay anywhere unless Ron was with her. His presence didn't stop the nightmares, but she said that waking up and knowing he was there helped her recover faster.Â
Ron didn't mind, not one bit, but he also didn't know how to help her other than holding her, running his fingers through her hair and offering comforting words. Seeing her so vulnerable upset him more than he thought it ever could. She'd always been so strong, so tough, that to see her needing him so much didn't make him feel good at all. He'd always admired her strength. He loved that about her.
And he couldnât help but worry what would happen when September came around and he couldnât be there with her anymore.Â
The next month passed by in a blur, Ron splitting his time between training, Grimmauld Place and the Granger house, as well as his frequent visits back to the Burrow. It felt like he never stopped, and he was completely exhausted, but somehow he still managed to pass every test with flying colours. Well, all except the theory aspects. He wasn't the best at that.Â
Before he knew it, August thirty-first was upon them, and that meant (once again) his last day with Hermione before she went back to Hogwarts. It had been drawing nearer and nearer, but to Ron, it had never quite hit him that she would be going away again â for even longer this time, too. Hermione had promised to tell him when the Hogsmeade visits were so he and Harry could come and spend time with her and Ginny, but apart from them and the Christmas holidays, it wouldn't be until next June that he'd really see her again.Â
Ginny had suggested all four of them do something together on the final day, but Hermione had convinced Ron to agree to a dinner with her parents instead. He loved Hermione, and over that last month, he'd come to get along alright with her parents too. But... a dinner felt far too formal and much too intimidating for his liking. As he sat on her bed, watching as she finished getting herself ready (they were going out) he couldn't help but long for the comfort of the Burrow and his large family and the celebration Harry and Ginny must have been having with his parents and siblings.Â
He really did like Hermione's parents, and to his utter bewilderment, they had accepted him and welcomed him without any questions, but they were very different people to what he was used to.Â
He didn't understand Muggle money well, but he knew enough to know they had a lot of it and preferred to live a fairly comfortable life, which included fancy restaurants that Ron really didn't feel he had good enough clothes for â even the new ones he had bought with the money he'd earned as a trainee Auror.Â
"You know," Ron said, grinning from where he still sat on her bed, "I really like it when you dress up. You look⊠amazing."
Hermione flushed, her usual response to any compliment he gave her. "Thank you."
Ron stood up, wrapping his arms around her waist and drawing her towards him. Her own arms snaked around his neck and he couldn't help but notice she looked even more beautiful when she was so close to him.Â
He kissed her, and she responded enthusiastically, pressing herself into him. He liked it when she responded to his touch like this, with her whole body excited about this kind of intimacy.
Pulling away, her arms still around his neck, she said, "You've surprised me, you know?"
"Surprised?" Ron asked, not sure whether he liked that term. He certainly hadn't been trying to surprise her in any way â he was trying to be as open as he possibly could with her, his new policy.Â
Hermione nodded, grinning. "You're attentive, affectionate, and you say all the right things. You're really good at this whole relationship business."
"Er⊠thanks?" Ron said, feeling slightly put out by what Hermione seemed to think was a compliment. "What, you didn't think I would be?"
Hermione hesitated, appearing as if she wasnât sure if she should elaborate, and the moment she started speaking, Ron realised that was exactly the thought that had been going through her head. She went slightly pink. âWell, itâs just⊠I shared a room with Lavender while you and she were⊠you donât seem to be the same Ron that she got.â
âItâs because Iâm not,â Ron said shortly, pulling away from her. The last thing he wanted was to start talking to her about Lavender â especially knowing that Lavender had only just been released from hospital due to her injuries in the war. It didnât seem right talking about her in a way that could only be negative.
âRon, I didnât mean ââ
âItâs alright, Hermione,â Ron said, looking at her again apologetically. âIâd just rather not go down that road, you know? I didnât handle it⊠all that well. But I am different with you, because I love you, and the last thing I ever want is to lose you. All very, very different to⊠Lavender.â
Hermione gave a half smile, one that Ron returned. He watched her for a few moments, noticing that she seemed puzzled. He sighed. âEr, did Harry ever tell you what happened when we destroyed the locket?â
Hermione shook her head, her curiosity now piquing. âHe said it was your story to tell when you were ready. Ron⊠what did happen?â
Ron sat back down on her bed, her beside him. He watched her for a moment before speaking. âDid the locket ever⊠speak to you? When you were wearing it, I mean?â
Hermione nodded. âIt tried to tell me all these awful things. Things that werenât true, but it could be pretty convincing at times. It was quite ââ She stared at him, her eyes wide with shock. âIt spoke to you, too, didnât it? Told you the same horrible things?â
âI dunno about the same, but you saw how it got to me,â Ron said. âI think it more so looked into what scared us the most and tried to find every way possible to convince us that those doubts were true. The reason it affected me more than you or Harry was because I already kind of believed those things. After a while, I couldnât really tell if it was coming from the locket or me.â
Hermione was watching him as if this was completely new information for her, which Ron didnât understand. Surely, she must have had at least an inkling as to what had happened.Â
âBut it had a memory, too, just like the diary, and when Harry opened it, it sensed me there. It knew I was the most vulnerable to it, so it targeted me.â
âTargeted you?â Hermione asked with keen interest.Â
âIt showed me and Harry everything that I had been thinking when wearing it, everything that it had tried to â and succeeded at â convince me of being true. It was one thing thinking it, but another actually seeing it. And even worse that Harry had to see it too.â
âSee what?â Hermione asked, breathless.Â
At this part, Ron hesitated. He averted her gaze, instead focusing his attention on her patterned floor. âMy, um, worst fears coming to life.â
Hermione watched him, waiting in silence for him to continue.Â
Ron shook his head. âYou and⊠him.â Hermioneâs eyes widened. âAmong other things!â he added quickly. âThings⊠that sucked. Things that I donât really believe anymore.â
âIt⊠it showed you me and⊠Harry?â Hermione asked, seeming utterly shocked by such a revelation. âBut Ron ââ
âIt was all in my head, I know that. But it was what resolved me, really. What prompted me to get up and destroy it. What made me determined to have you forgive me, to make more of an effort with you, and to stop feeling like second best â to Harry and my family. It was a blessing in disguise in the end. That is why youâre getting this Ron, and not the one you saw a year ago. A year ago, I was ridiculously in love with you, but had no idea how to tell you that, and the locket convinced me it wasnât worth my time to feel that way anyway. So I decided to change that. Prove it wrong.â
There was a moment of silence in her room. Hermione looked at him with such deep affection that Ron had to look away, his ears burning red. There was a reason heâd never told her, until now, what had occurred during that time, and he was glad Harry hadnât said anything either.Â
After a moment, he said, âSo, what did it say to you?â
But Hermione shook her head, blushing. âI⊠I guess its memory stretched as far as knowing who we were exactly.â And without elaborating any further, she jumped to her feet. âCome on. Itâs almost six. Mum and Dad said weâd be leaving now.âÂ
"Well, that's just completely unfair," Ron complained as she pulled him up from the bed and led him from her room by the hand. "I tell you that my deepest fear was being rejected by you, and you think you can get away with just saying it had a really good memory?"
"Yes," Hermione said, amused. "I do."
"What did it say?" Ron tried again as they descended the stairs.Â
But Hermione was spared from answering with the appearance of her parents at the bottom of the landing.Â
"Not fair," he muttered into her ear, to which she smiled. And that, he determined, meant it wasn't nearly as horrible for her as it had been for him.Â
...
Dinner was in a fancy Muggle restaurant in the centre of London. Ron hadn't seen anything quite like it â wizarding or Muggle. Chandeliers hung from the ceiling, and other diners were dressed rather eloquently, making Ron feel inadequate.Â
Then, the menu had him gaping, but not for the food; even he could understand that the price of each item was expensive.Â
"Hermione," he muttered, wishing more than ever that he was at the Burrow enjoying one of his mother's home cooked meals.Â
Seeming to understand what he was looking at, Hermione covered his hand with hers and whispered, "It's okay. Mum and Dad have it covered."
Ron balked at her for a moment before returning his eyes to the menu, reading every item and ensuring that he would pick the least expensive there, whatever it was.
This dinner really was the most uncomfortable, and he couldn't quite believe the double life Hermione's parents seemed to live. At home, they were friendly and welcoming and Jane, Hermione's mother, reminded Ron in many ways of his own mother. But then there was this life, willing to pay exuberant amounts for a single meal. Though, if there was one consolation, the Grangers were by far the most casual out of the lot.Â
He looked around at the other diners, all in fancy cocktail dresses and the Muggle equivalent to wedding-esque dress robes. He looked at Hermione with a raised eyebrow.Â
"Don't make fun," she said with a small smile.
"I'm not," Ron said. "It's just hard to believe that you, who camped out with us in a tent for almost a year, had this life before that. Why'd you choose to spend your summers with my family, when you had this?"
"Why do you think, Ron?"
Ron opened his mouth to say he didn't know, but then a thought occurred to him. "You stayed because of⊠me?"
"Well, yes, and Harry, I guess. I don't really have many friends in this world. None, actually. And it can get pretty lonely not having any siblings to talk to either. I liked the homeiness of your place. All the people. And the fact that I was with others like me.â
Ron beamed at her, unable to help feeling rather flattered by her compliment. "Still," he said after a moment, "your parents clearly have a stack of money."
"Money isn't everything," Hermione said flatly.Â
"Yeah⊠right, well⊠that's easy for you to sayâŠ" Ron cast another glance around the restaurant. Perhaps he could consider taking up a Muggle profession just to be able to afford to eat here.
"What are you two talking about?"Â
Ron jumped, startled by Hermione's dad's question. He turned to face him, reddening slightly. Robert had a rather odd sense of humour, Ron had realised, where he made jokes but Ron was never sure if he was being serious or not until Hermione told him he wasn't. Ron liked him well enough, but he constantly felt like he was being scrutinised.Â
"Ron is just feeling rather bemused about being here," Hermione said calmly. "He's unfamiliar with⊠unmagical places."
"Ah, I see." Robert watched Ron for a moment, and Ron felt his whole face burn. This was exactly why he'd not wanted to do this. This was why he really wished they were all at the Burrow. If he'd thought about it sooner, his own father would have been thrilled to have Muggles around for dinner. They could have talked for hours about things that probably seemed trivial to Hermione's dad, but greatly intrigued his own.Â
Ron shifted uncomfortably in his chair, averting the man's gaze. Hermione seemed to notice because she said, "Dad!"
He smiled at her. "Sorry, was just curious, is all."
"Curious about what, exactly?" Hermione asked, almost sounding bored.Â
Robert's smile broadened. "Well, the two of you haven't actually told us if you're together or not. We've, of course, assumed, because you've spent every night together, in the same room, but you've never said anything to usâŠ"
"Dad!" Hermione said again, going rather pink herself.Â
Ron shifted again. He'd been very careful to minimise his affection towards Hermione in front of her parents.Â
"Of⊠of course we are," Hermione said, turning to Ron who was intently staring at some other diners. She nudged him, and he had no choice but to look at her parents. He nodded.Â
Part of him expected some kind of interrogation after that â he'd regularly expected it â but her dad merely nodded and directed the conversation to other questions (quietly) about the wizarding world and what was happening now that there was no war happening (one they had only recently found out about).Â
Ron felt himself relax, finally able to participate in a conversation that didn't make him look or feel like an idiot.Â
In the end, the dinner ended up being rather enjoyable. The food was good, and the company even better. Despite making a pact with himself to keep his affection for Hermione to a minimum in front of her parents, he couldnât help but place a kiss on her temple as they stood up and her father paid for their meals.Â
She smiled, turning slightly pink. If her parents saw, they said nothing.Â
He even dared to hold her hand as they exited the restaurant and walked back to where her parents had parked their car.Â
When they returned to their house, Hermione bade her parents goodnight and indicated Ron should follow her upstairs. Ron surreptitiously did as she asked, collapsing onto her bed the moment it was just the two of them again.
Hermione watched him from where she was returning her shoes to her wardrobe, looking amused. âYouâre funny,â she said.Â
âWhat? Why?â Ron asked, wondering if heâd somehow blundered the evening.Â
âBecause youâre not your usual âsay-it-how-it-isâ self when youâre trying to make an impression.â She watched him for a moment, amusement in her eyes. âI like it⊠but I think I like the real you better.â
âThe real me?â Ron asked. âWhat does that mean?â
âIt means you really donât have to resist kissing me when my parents are around,â Hermione said. "That's not who you are whenever other people are around."Â
Ron smiled at her, indicating she join him on the bed. She obliged, falling into his lap. "Well, they're the only ones I need to make an impression on, right? I mean, there's my parents and siblings⊠and they've got to like me, no matter what I do. Then there's Harry, and he really doesn't care. He likes me well enough, and he's told me himself he thinks we're good together. But your mum and dadâŠ"
Hermione rolled her eyes. "Like you a lot. Now, stop worrying about it. You're driving me a bit batty."
"Batty?" Ron chuckled, looking at her and grinning. "I'm driving you battyâŠ" He laughed again, his affection for her surging as she looked at him, affronted. "And just when I thought I couldn't love you any moreâŠ"
âŠ
"Never thought I'd be back here," Ron said, staring fondly up at the scarlet steam engine. "Well, not until I'd be sending my own kids off to Hogwarts, I mean."
Harry, who was standing beside him on the platform, raised an eyebrow. "Thinking about that, are you?"
Ron scowled. "You know what I mean!"
Harry smirked but had no chance to say anything else on the subject as Hermione and Ginny returned from putting their trunks away, tailed by Luna.
âHi, Harry. Hi, Ron,â Luna said brightly, smiling at each of them in turn.Â
âOh, hi, Luna!â Harry said, stepping forward to hug her. âI wasnât expecting to see you here.â
Ron hugged Luna as well, and her smile even wider as she pulled away, she said, âOf course I will be finishing my final year. Itâs important, you know?â When Harry and Ron didnât respond, she added, âBut I suppose it isnât for you, when you have a good job already that would usually require lots of NEWTsâŠâ
âEr, yeah,â Harry and Ron said together.Â
Ron glanced down at his watch. âYou have three minutes, so I suppose youâll want to be getting on the train now?â He said the last part with such contempt, that Luna gave him a very abrasive look.Â
âOh, donât worry about him, Luna,â Ginny said, chuckling slightly. âHe just doesnât want Hermione to go away for a whole year, where heâll only see her sparingly. He, of course, supports her completely in this decision for her education.â She stepped forward and hugged Ron goodbye.
He begrudgingly patted her on the back, all the while thinking that of course he supported Hermione in her decision to return to Hogwarts. It didnât mean he had to like it.Â
Once Ginny had turned her attention to Harry, Ron took that as an opportunity to pull Hermione slightly to the side. Heâd not mentioned to the others that Hermione was still experiencing memories from Malfoy Manor, but now that he wasnât going to be there to comfort her, he felt worried.Â
âWrite to me whenever you want,â he said to her. âAnd, if you need me, tell me. Iâll⊠Iâll find a way to sneak into the school or something, alright?â
Hermione smiled, squeezing his hands. âIâll be fine,â she said quietly. âI promise. Ginny will be there, and Iâll⊠let her know.âÂ
Ron wasnât convinced, and it must have shown, because she added, âIâll write twice a week. Promise.â And then she flung herself at him, arms snaking around his neck, and kissed him so hard on the mouth that he might have felt embarrassed was he not going to miss her so much. This would be the last time heâd kiss her in who knew how long. May as well make the most of it.Â
The whistle from the train blew, and steam began billowing from the engine.Â
Hermione pulled away. âI love you,â she said, smiling.Â
âLove you too,â Ron said, forcing his own smile. âAnd good luck.â
And then they were gone, hurrying to jump into one of the carriages as the train began pulling away from the platform.Â
Ron and Harry stood watching until it was out of sight. Parents were beginning to head back through the wall, some looking very concerned, which Ron couldnât blame them for. Hogwarts was safe once more, but the memories of what had happened there in May were still fresh in everyoneâs mind.Â
âWell,â Harry said, turning to Ron, âI guess itâs just you and me until next June. What should we do?â
Ron bit his lip, turning and following the others back through the wall and onto the Muggle side of the station. âI dunno,â he said, and he meant it. He hadnât faced the prospect of not seeing Hermione for this long since he was eleven years old. âAre you going to miss her?â he suddenly asked. âGinny, I mean.â
âEvery day,â Harry said.Â
âMe too,â Ron replied, and he wasnât sure if he was talking about Hermione or his sister. Perhaps both.Â
They stood in silence for a moment longer, before Harry said, âI guess we could go for a drink at the Leaky Cauldron?â
Despite himself, Ron smiled. âYeah, sounds good, mate,â he said. âI suppose thereâs one good thing about them going away.â
âWhatâs that?â Harry asked.Â
âIt means you and I can spend some weekends together, doing⊠guy things.â
Harry snorted. âGuy things. Yeah, alright. Yeah, it will be fun, wonât it?â
Ron nodded, smiling, and this time meaning it. âYeah,â he said, âit will be fun.â
Word Count: 3,780
masterlist
With one final zip of your suitcase you were ready for your trip. You and your boyfriend of 2 years, Chris, were taking a couple days off to spend time with your parents. You hadnât seen them since your college graduation and they had been bugging you for months for you and Chris to spend some time in your hometown.Â
You were currently living in Boston and had completely expected that you werenât going back home following your completion of university. Your life was in Boston. Although you missed your parents and your sister, you were so ready to start this new chapter of your life and be able to make it your own.Â
You and Chris had been looking for a house together since you decided to stay in Boston with him. Your relationship was headed in a good direction and both of you were 100% in it for the long run. You wanted to wait till after you graduated to move in together, not wanting to worry about anything besides school. Chris had his realtor on the phone the minute your grades for your last semester had been finalized and everything was approved for graduation.Â
When you sat down with him and both said what you were looking for in a house, the topic of kids came up. You knew Chris wanted a family, and you did too. You had both agreed to bring the conversation up again after some time in the house together. You were secretly hoping he was planning on proposing to you soon. Youâve been dropping major hints at him through your Pinterest board ever since you started having serious conversations about your future with each other. You were ready for it all. You wanted to marry Chris and fill your beautiful new home with a bunch of kids.Â
You were also slowly convincing him to get Dodger a friend since both of you were always working, and you wanted to make sure he was never lonely when you were at work.Â
Your amazing realtor had found a beautiful house right outside of Boston that had everything you were both looking for. You were just waiting for the final pieces of paperwork to come in and finally be able to call the house yours.Â
Your lease on your apartment was up last month and had been staying at Chrisâs place. All of the big things you didnât sell from your place were in storage and everything else was with you.Â
When you had mentioned to your sister that you and Chris were days away from closing on your new home, she had asked how your parents felt about everything.Â
âThey know our relationship is serious. They met him at graduation and had known about him well before that. Mom even talked about us having a fall wedding here, since the weather would be perfect. I havenât told them about the house since weâve known about this trip since everything with the house started. I want to tell them in person, so donât mention anything to them.â You huffed.Â
âI talked to mom the other day and she thinks that you made a mistake staying there to be with Chris. She doesnât think your relationship is going to last, since heâs so much older than you. Hell, thatâs what everyone thinks. Sheâs just worried, I think.â She expressed.Â
âIâve been hearing all of that for the past 2 years from everyone I know, especially from mom. Nobody knows our relationship better than we do. We both want the same things and are happy being together. So what if heâs older than me? Dad is way older than mom and no one questions the integrity of their relationship, why does everyone have to question mine?â I said back.Â
âI know. I know you keep hearing this, and Iâm sorry. Iâm really happy for you, Y/N. I really am. Buying a house together is a big deal and Iâm glad youâre ready to do that with him. You have everything so figured out and people are just jealous. I mean, you have the hottest dude in Hollywood in your bed every night. Who wouldnât be jealous of that?â She chuckled.Â
âAnyway, weâll talk more when you get here! Iâm so excited to see you. Call me when you land and Iâll meet you at home. Love you!! See you tomorrow.â The line clicked and you threw your phone onto your bed. You let out a deep sigh and moved your suitcase off of the bed so you could collapse.Â
You were slowly dozing off when you had heard Dodger starting to bark, alerting you that Chris was home. He had been doing some small indie films in Boston, not wanting to get back into major productions until you were settled in your new house. You picked yourself off your bed and walked into the living room, seeing Chris toe off his shoes and place his things down. He greeted Dodger and walked over to you, mumbling a quick hi and placed a quick kiss onto your lips.Â
âHi my love, how was your day?â He asked as he walked into the kitchen. You took a seat on the barstool facing the kitchen, and watched as Chris started to look around for something to snack on.Â
âIt was pretty good. Work was how it usually is. I came home early and got all my packing done for the trip and just cleaned a little bit around the house. I left some things you might want to pack out on the bed just incase. How was yours? Anything exciting happen on set?â You asked, leaning back on your chair.
âWrapped up everything I needed to do so I could relax and enjoy the next couple of days without worrying about needing to get back to set.â He took a beer out of the fridge and leaned against the counter and took a drink from the bottle. âHow are you feeling about seeing your parents and telling them about the house? You havenât really said much about it.â He took another sip and walked closer to you.Â
He sat in the chair next to you and just looked at you, waiting for your response. You thought for a moment, collecting your thoughts before giving him an honest answer. You sighed and thought about the conversation you had with your sister.Â
âIâm excited to tell time, but really nervous. I talked to my sister earlier and she had told me that my mom has been having doubts about us and was just worried that I didnât know what I was getting myself into and blah blah blah. But Iâm ready to set everything straight and tell her that she canât doubt us anymore. Itâs important to us that we do this and she needs to be on board with that. I know sheâll be happy for us, but you know how she gets. I think dad will be happy for us. He really like you, yïżœïżœknow. Tells me all the time that I need to fly him up here so you two can go to a Pats game. Poor guy had a house full of women his entire life and now he finally has the son he always wanted.â You rambled slightly.Â
âEverything is gonna a work out, donât be nervous. Itâs 4 days with your parents and then we close on the house when we get back and should be moved in by the end of the next month. I know how important your family is to you and how much it means to to get their support on this, but you have so many other people who support you. Youâre basically and Evans now and you have all of them standing behind us, cheering us on. Donât worry too much on what might happen with them, but think about whatâs happening with us now. Our life together is finally getting started.â He grabbed your hand and kissed the back of it before pulling you off the chair and moving you closer to him. You stood between his legs and wrapped your arms around him. His comment about you being an Evans filled your stomach with butterflies but you didnât think much into it.Â
For the rest of the night you just sat on the couch watching movies and eating random snacks you had in the pantry, not bothering to cook something for dinner. You snuggled up next to Chris and Dodger was next to you as you stayed in the living room well into the night. You had fallen asleep on the couch and next thing you knew, you were being placed on your side of the bed and tucked in gently.Â
Chris placed a kiss on your forehead and moved some of your Y/H/C hair out of your face. You sleepily smiled at him before turning to your side and let sleep consume you. You heard shuffling around the room, assuming Chris was finishing any packing he had left. You woke when you felt the bed dip beside you and your were wrapped in a pair of strong arms. You moved closer to Chris and let sleep take over you once again.Â
~
It was late afternoon and you and Chris had landed safely in your hometown. You were driving down the street that was still so familiar to you. You saw your parentâs house come into full view as you instinctually turned a corner. You drew in a sharp breath as you put your rental car in park and stared up at your childhood home. You had spent so many years of your life here and it was so weird not seeing it as your home anymore. You looked over at Chris and he grabbed your hand and squeezed it. He grabbed some of his things and opened the car door and stepped out.Â
You walked up to the front door hand in hand and raised your hand up to ring the doorbell. Not even 5 seconds later your mom had answered the door and immediately wrapped you in a hug. She grabbed your shoulders and looked at you with joy. She brought you in for another hug before giving one to Chris.Â
âItâs good to see you again, Chris! How have things been going for you?â Your mom questioned, moving out of the way so you could walk inside.Â
âEverything has been going great, thank you! How have you and Y/D/N been?â Chris asked, looking at the beautiful house he walked into. He had never seen this place in person, just in pictures you had and through a phone whenever he was around when you video called your parents.
 It was so elegantly decorated. Family photos littered the walls, he could pick you out of all of them. One of the things he had hoped heâd get a chance to see were photos from your childhood. You have been through every photo album the Evans family had created, thanks to his mom. You knew he was looking forward to those, so you had made sure your mom pulled them out of storage for him.Â
âSame old same old. Weâve been really looking forward to you guys coming to visit us. I cannot tell you how many times Iâve made Y/D/N clean this house over the past week. Had to make sure everything was in tip top shape for your first visit.â She winked at Chris and looked back at you. You plopped down on the couch, exhausted from your hectic day.Â
âThank you, Y/M/N. Itâs really a beautiful house.â Chris said as he sat down next to you on the couch, putting his arm across the back of it. She nodded at him and went to go find your dad. You leaned into Chrisâs side and he put his arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer. He placed a kiss on the top of your head before continuing to take in his surroundings.Â
âDonât fall asleep before giving your old man a hug!â Your dads voice said as he walked into the living room. You and Chris both stood up and you ran into your dads arms. You loved both of your parents, but you were always closer to your dad. He gave you a big hug, picking you up off the ground slightly and placed a kiss on your cheek. Chris walked up to him and extended his hand for a handshake once you were done greeting your dad.Â
âItâs great to see you! Glad you guys could take the time to make it out here.â Your dad said, shaking Chrisâs hand and pulling him in for a âbroâ hug.Â
âMe too. Iâm excited to finally be here. Iâve heard a lot of stories and seen a lot of pictures of Y/N growing up here.â Chris said as everyone took a seat in the living room, the two of you going back to your original spots.Â
You all sat around the living room talking for a while, just catching up on everything that had been happening in your lives. Your dad and Chris started to get into sports talk and your mom motioned for you to go with her to the kitchen. You stood up from your spot, excusing yourself from the conversation you were no longer interested in and followed your mom. She poured you glass of wine, and then one for herself and told you to take it to the back porch while she got something for your dad and Chris. You sat down on one of the chairs and got comfortable, your mom joining you a few minutes later.Â
âSo, how are things in Boston with Chris? We havenât really talked much about it. After graduation we thought you were going to come back, and then you stayed and we were all kinda confused.â Your mom said taking a sip from her glass.Â
âThings are really great between us right now. Chris has been spending most of his time in Boston doing some small projects so I see him basically everyday. Work has been going super well, Iâm loving every second of it. I know you guys were really disappointed when I didnât come back, but my life is in Boston now. Chris is there and all my frien-â You were saying before your mom cut you off.Â
âSo Chris is your life now? Chris and work? What happened to family first? You were supposed to come home and help us out. We thought you were going to find your own place here and find a job and be able to be here for us. We were there for you all your life.â She criticized.Â
âMom, Iâm 22 years old. Donât you think Iâm old enough to start building my own life? Chris and I are building our future together and I couldnât just leave and continue doing that from here. I wasnât going to make him uproot his life up to follow me here just because you wanted me to. Iâm sorry that you donât agree with my decisions but I think Iâm allowed to decide what I think is best for me.â You said back to her. She rolled her eyes at your response. Before she could say anything back your sister opened the door excitedly greeting you. You were relieved she was finally here to pull you out of the conversation that had taken a turn south between you and your mom.Â
You had gone inside with your sister and saw that she brought dinner for everyone. You went over to Chris and asked him to help you get your bags out of the car before you sat down for dinner. He had noticed your change in mood and quickly followed you outside. You quickly ranted to him about what your mom had said and blew off some steam before heading back inside with your things. Chris followed you up to your childhood bedroom, where you two would be staying for the next few nights. It was still the way you had left it. Pictures of your high school friends scattered around the walls, and posters of things you loved when you were in high school. Chris chuckled at some of them and you two headed back to the dining room.Â
Dinner had been going well, despite your moms discreet bashes at your life choices, you ignored them and continued to enjoy the rest of the meal. As everyone was finishing, you decided it was as good a time as any to bring up the big news.Â
âSo mom and dad, you guys donât know this but Chris and I have been talking a lot the past couple months about our future and where we see it going. Things between us have been getting serious for a long time, but we just put off pulling the trigger on anything until I finished school and found a good job. Now that I am done with school and found a really amazing job, we decided that it was time to start settling down and getting ready for the rest of our lives together. With that being said, when we get back home, we are closing on a beautiful house that we found. We bought a house and weâll be moved into it by the end of next month.â You said looking to your parents, hoping to be able to read their expressions. Your sister had a smile on her face, already knowing the news.Â
Chris grabbed your hand under the table and gave it a reassuring squeeze. You shot him a small smile and looked back at your parents. Your mom had an unreadable expression. She seemed to be going through a lot of things in her mind as she processed everything you had just said. You looked at your dad, hoping to get a better reaction from him. He stood up from his chair and walked over to the space between you and Chris, and gave you two the most bone crushing hug possible. He whispered a few words of encouragement to you two before letting go and going back to his seat.Â
âIâm so happy for you two. This is such a big step in any relationship and it can be really tricky. You seem to be handling it with grace and Iâm really proud of you two. Iâm sure you have searched high and low for the perfect home for you two, and I already know its going to be beautiful. I hope that once you are all moved in and settled and are ready for guests, you invite us to spend a couple days up there with you. All I ask is that you make sure the Pats are playing so Chris here can show me how you New Englanders party when they play.â Your dad said, looking at your and Chris with such love and admiration. âNot to push or anything, but I hope this house has some extra bedrooms ready for kids whenever you decide youâre ready for them.â He added.Â
You chuckled at your dads comment and wiped some tears that fell from your eyes. âYes, dad, there are plenty of bedrooms for kids. One of the things on our list was it needed to be family friendly. When you see it, youâll see how perfect it is for a family. But weâre taking it one step at a time and weâll talk about kids again when weâre ready.â You assured him. He mumbled good and looked over at your mom, who had been silent the entire time. She looked at you when she realized that all eyes were on her. âMom, are you going to say something to them?â Youâre sister chimed in.Â
âI didnât know you guys were really this serious about each other.â She responded.Â
âWell after 2 years together I would hope we were serious about being together.â You smirked.Â
âIâm sorry for the shit I was giving you earlier, I was just so scared that you were throwing your life away for some guy you were dating. If I had know the depth of it, I wouldnât have been so harsh. I shouldâve listened to you, Y/N. I was just worried about you and worried that he was going to leave you broken and battered. Iâm sorry for not giving you more faith, Chris.â She admitted. You and your mom had both stood up and gave each other a long hug. This was the first time in a long time where your mom had been so genuinely happy for you. There was a big family hug, with Chris included. You joked that he was basically a Y/L/N, referring to the joke he had made to you yesterday.Â
âWell I do hope that buying a house together means that a wedding is in sight.â Your mom had whispered in your ear. You shot her a look of â I know right?! â and you gave her another hug. Chris winked at you from across the room when you made eye contact. You send him a loving look and mouthed âI love youâ to him. He returned the look and mouthed âI love you tooâ back. You felt butterflies in your stomach and your cheeks heat up.Â
~
You had gotten ready for bed before Chris had and was all tucked in and ready to sleep by the time he came up to your room. He had stayed downstairs and helped your parents clean up from dinner while you showered and started to unwind. He saw your body on the bed and assumed you had already fallen asleep. You stared at him as he undressed in front of you and admired his amazing body. He caught you staring and shot you a suggestive look as he turned the lights off and went back to get into bed with you.
âWeâre not defiling my childhood room by having sex in here. Plus my mom finally came around to our relationship and my dad probably loves you more than I do, so we canât risk them hearing us.â You whispered as he pressed his body against yours. Your back was pressed against his bare chest and you gripped his forearms as he wrapped his arms around your shoulders. You turned your head towards him and pressed a kiss onto his lips. He mumbled âI love you so muchâ between kisses.Â
The love that was flowing between your bodies that night was unreal. You spent all night in his arms, exactly where you belonged.Â
Imagine spending the holidays with the Losers Club that come to visit you in the bunker where you like with Sam and Dean.
âI still think this is a terrible idea.â the green-eyed man said from his seat.
He had plopped there half an hour ago, too tired after the trip you'd made him go this very morning to the market. You had been there the whole time, of course, and that was what had made things worse for him. You had walked around the market more than ten times and every time you found something new to buy because, apparently Dean always thought in annoyance and more exhaustion, this dinner had to be special and you were definitely going to cook everything on your own and you had to pick the best ingredients without forgetting a single one.
While he loved the excitement and happiness on your face â and on he'd give everything to see that look on you on a daily basis â his torture had not ended there but rather only 40 minutes ago when the last pie had been put in the oven. Oh and it was already dark outside. For some reason you seemed even more energetic than before though and while he couldn't understand the kind of magic you must have pulled there, he didn't mind to ask either. He only appreciated it more.
âYou think that anything that involves kids is a terrible idea, Dean. I wouldn't really be surprised if I was you at this point. Or bother with it to be honest.â you said, small smile ever present on your lips as you placed the last pie on the table âHey-â you hit his hand scoldingly as he tried to reach for a small part of it âThat's for the kids. Keep your hands to yourself, you'll have pie only if they're full. Not that I think I've made enough...â you ended up trailing off as you chewed on your lower lip, deep in thought.
âBut you've made three pies!â he nearly exclaimed so loudly that you were sure Sam would've heard him from his own room âAnd we've been cooking all day! Look at this table, it has never been more full!â
âThe kids are here for the holidays, we need to give them the best time of their lives and make them feel at home! It took a lot of effort from their part to be with us on News Year's days too, we can't ruin this.â you huffed, moving the plates for what felt like the millionth time that day and Dean had to hold back himself from reaching out to take hold of your hand and calm you down despite how adorable you were while fussing around âI'll have to do so much better next time.â you muttered, still chewing on your lower lip.
âNext time?â Dean's eyes widened as he looked around âAs in- We're going to do this again? And the whole trip to the market too?!â he could already feel the exhaustion just at the possibility of repeating such a day. No amount of food, if there was any left according to your words, could be worth this.
âWell, yeah...? Obviously Dean! That's what taking care of kids is like, a full-time job! And next time I plan to do it better, oh I'm certainly cooking more.â you looked around, nodding your head at your own words.
Dean could barely hold back a groan. Maybe pretending to be sick wouldn't be all that childish after all, would it? Part of him didn't want to miss on this, though, didn't want to miss on the way your eyes sparkled with excitement and eagerness to see the kids you'd saved â and who had in returned saved you â that summer not so long ago and the kids who in all honesty were like your own. He had heard parts of the story, only what you had been so far willing to reveal. It hadn't been long and parts of it were too traumatic for you to reveal, and of course he was willing to wait.
Complain as he might like a little kid about feeling tired, he enjoyed it. He felt something completely new at the prospect of the kids coming to live at the bunker with the three of you (four if Castiel showed up), something he couldn't name but didn't dislike. It was new but then again he was beginning to get used to feeling ll sorts of new things ever since he met you and plenty of them he grew to love. He couldn't help but think of this as one big dysfunctional family that he could be a part of and felt himself become giddy too. He wanted to meet the kids too and possibly see how good he could be with them... how good of a father possibly? He didn't know.
âHow much food can two kids possibly eat though?â he asked, less whiny, and mostly to stop himself from spiral any further down the trail of thought that involved him, you and kids.
âMaybe more snacks? Not healthy but the guys love- Wait-â you paused your rambling, mostly because you had been talking to yourself at first, before you looked at him âWhat do you mean two? I never said two kids, Dean.â you laughed at him and he blinked, frowning.
âOh... no?â he rubbed the back of his neck âI must have zoned out at some point during all those preparations. Sorry, princess.â
âIf...â your eyebrows pulled into a frown and your smile fell, making the pang in his chest hurt like no other âIf you're really so tired then I could just make something for you to eat o-or you could chose anything you want from this and you could go to sleep. I know it's getting late already a-and I suppose I was rather-â
âNo!â he said faster than he could even realize it âNo, (Y/n), seriously I'm fine. Nor hungry... alright, that hungry. That pie's really tempting me right there and it's not fair.â that earned a half smile from you âBesides, it's not like I'm that tired. I'm jut fine, I can wait. And even more, I want to meet the kids today... despite how bad of an idea I think this is.â
âDare you doubt my ability to handle kids properly, Winchester?â you smirked, raising an eyebrow as you came to sit at last next to him with a soft sigh, for the first time realizing that you were a tad tired âAnd you haven't met them to know if it's a good idea or not. I think you'll get along just fine.â
âWhy, yes. Three kids barely in their teens running and sneaking around in a house full of old but totally-fuctionalweapons is no biggie. Everything's going to go absolutely fine!â the sarcasm was dripping from his words yet you couldn't hold back your smile because he really had no idea how much worse things could get if that's what he considered trouble. It was going to be funny to see him figure it out himself.
âAnd who exactly said it's going to be three?â you asked with a smirk and his frown only deepened.
â...Four?â he asked after a long moment of hesitation but the smile you kept on did nothing to calm down his growing worry âFi- How many kids are you going to bring in here?!â
âWhy, Dean-â you giggled âI thought you'd like some company of your own age! You're the one acting like a child all the time, wouldn't it be nice to have many more of your peers around here?â
âNo, I'm perfectly fine all alone, thank you very much. How many kids is it going to be?â he insisted, eyes narrowed in suspicion.
âHey, if you're worried about me not being able to handle them all, I'll assure you I've got plenty of practice all these years. There is absolutely no problem. I've handled you pretty well, anyway.â you shrugged and he raised an eyebrow âWhy? Do you think you're any more of a grown up than they are?â
âAlright, funny. Very funny. Get your jokes out now because once they are here, mind my words, these four or five kids will-â
But this time he didn't even get to complete his sentence because another sound caught both of yours attention. It was knocking on the door and Dean could swear you had never shot up faster, or at least he had never seen you do so. Maybe all of it happened too fast for him to comprehend too, or maybe he was so tired that his brain had slowly started slowing down. He couldn't think of too many things at the moment, not to mention that the temptation of asking you to make it up to him with some cuddles â all very friendly of course â was taking up most of his thoughts.
But he still found himself getting up from his seat and â with some nerves that he didn't know where they came from â he approached the stairs where the sounds of children â far too many if he was honest â were heard amongst your own laughter. That he could get used to.
âOh my Gosh, look at you!â your voice hed so much emotion that Dean smiled ever so slightly â even if his smile fluttered the moment he realized just how many kids were standing at your door and were all wrapped around you in a big group hug âYou've grown up so much! Oh my-â you choked on your words âI think I'm gonna cry!â
âOh no don't!â one of the boys, the one with the dirty blonde curly hair Dean noted, said with wide eyes âWe have totally run out of tissues. Richie used them all up with all his ugly crying on the way here!â
âAww did you now?â you cooed at him âYou're so cute sometimes I might pinch your cheek, you know that? Such a good boy too!â you said and Dean finally realized it was teasingly to get to the boy something like a mix between an older sister and a mother.
âWha- Hey!â the boy with the glasses, Richie he supposed, looked at you with wide eyes âFirst of, don't you dare! Also, stop that. And second, I did not! If you must know it was Stanley and Bill who did more than all of us, when we found out we were going to spend the holidays with you!â
âOh don't try to cover it up, Richie. We all know it: you're such a softie and you look forward to my hugs and kisses!â you giggled, ruffling his hair as the rest of the kids laughed but Richie gave you a look.
âDon't you dare (Y/n)!â
âWell, for one I-â another voice spoke up, this time belonging to the only girl of the group so far âAm not going to deny a thing. I did cry tears of joy and I will gladly do it again!â
âBev, my favorite girl in the whole world!â you nearly squealed with joy when the young redhead jumped in your arms and you seemed to hug the life out of each other âOh my gosh, you look incredible! How is this even possible? I mean, all of you are just-â you held the girl still in your arms, looking around at all of them this time âDear, how long has it been? You've all changed so much, you- you've grown up. How much have I missed on? Gosh guys I'm so sor-â
âNo.â it was firm but soft âN-no. Y-you do-don't have t-to be sorry for a-anything. We a-are here. Together. And that's what matters. Not the distance. N-not the time lost. Not the lack of memories. O-only the ones we make now.â
âOh Bill.â you choked on an incoming sob âCome here.â you murmured, the young boy instantly coming to your other side and hugging you warmly âYou've grown up so much... Georgie would be so proud... I am.â you whispered, the last part specifically for him to hear, kissing the top of his head and hugging him warmly as he tightened his hold around you.
âI'll never forgive myself for not staying longer in contact with you but I won't make the same mistake again. But Bill's right.â you looked at all of them with tears in your eyes but still a smile on your lips âI'll certainly make up for the lost time the best I can, by giving you and sharing all the memories we possibly can. And there are certainly plenty more to come.â
âAlright, what the hell is this now?â Richie finally broke the small moment of silence, finally admitting too âI swore I was done crying but if you're going to keep it up with all these emotional speeches then be prepared for some really ugly ass crying again!â
âAlright, Richie's right. No more chick flicks.â you grinned âCome on, last few hugs and let's get to eating. I've cooked your favorites!â
âFavorites? Say no more!â
âUhm alright guys, are we sure this is the only way down? Because this might lead more down than down, if you get what I mean. And I don't mean to be hypochondriac but all it takes is one freaking step and boom that's it. And I mean, I don't even wanna put my hand on those handles because- are we sure they're steady? And if yes, how much? I'm just say- Oh my Gosh, Richie not like that! Careful, don't run!â
âOh come on, don't make such a fuss. See-â as if to prove a point, Richie jumped down three steps at once âPerfectly safe! It's not as if- Ow!â it was only when he collided with a solid body that he realize that nearly tripping and hitting the hard ground was very likely âSo-sorry.â he blinked.
â'S ok.â Dean said maybe after a too long of a pause. He clearly his throat a bit nervously, offering the friendliest smile he could to the kid who, for all he knew, was like a son to you. The fact alone made him all the more nervous, if the way the boy had narrowed his eyes at him didn't already do that.
âHey!â he said loudly, looking up at you after breaking his scrutinizing gaze at Dean âWhat's up with this fuckface right here? Is he, like, constantly standing there waiting to scare you or something?â
âWhat?â you had barely even noticed what was happening until you let go of one of the boys and looked down at the two of them. You had to try hard not to laugh at how Dean watched the kid with raised eyebrows and all but wide eyes. Especially when Richie walked carefully around the man, all the while eyeing him carefully, and grabbed something that looked like an old gun (which you honestly had no idea why it was even lying on the floor) and poked at Dean.
âIs he maybe a robot or something from those British Men of Letters you were telling us about or something? What kind of real man has these kind of legs anyway.â he snickered before poking Dean with the gun âHey freckles, where's your turn on button? Up your as-â
âHey!â Dean exclaimed, his voice certainly more gruff and loud than he would have expected, effectively making him jump in surprise âCareful with that, you might get hurt.â
âOh so fuckface speaks!â apparenty Dean's gruffness hadn't scared him in the least bit.
âDon't you think you curse enough for a little kid, boy?â Dean frowned âAnd check your vision next time, yeah? Cause I'm very much real... just like the gun you're holding. Better not to keep it so close to me.â
Alright, maybe threatening one of the kids wouldn't be the ideal way to get them to like him but this one was really asking for it.
âUnless you've noticed, I'm already wearing glasses. They're not fake to make me more handsome but maybe you could use some! Must be so fucking hard to get laid with that kind of-â
âRichie!â you exclaimed, eyes wide âThat's enough. Dean's not used to your sense of humor just yet. Please.â
âWell, shame, cause I was being serious a- Wait. This is Dean?â he pointed at the man, looking him up and down once more âAre you serious? And here I thought that at least your taste in men was better than-â
âAnd that's enough.â the only boy besides Richie that had come down the stairs but in a more normal way, place a hand over his mouth and stopped him from speaking âWe've had our dose of Richie for the day... well, week actually. It's seriously so much better when you eat, Richie, that way our ears and brains don't have to suffer. Do us that small favor, will you?â he sighed before turning to Dean with a smile and an extended hand âHi! My name is Stanley, nice to meet you, Dean!â
âWell, it's certainly nice to meet you too.â and he had really never meant it more before. Maybe Stanley was going to behis favorite after all.
âSorry about that. We kinda forgot the tape at home so we have to deal with it.â he shrugged a bit but when Dean frowned, he elaborated âThe duct tape. You know, the one we put over his mouth to make him stop. Kind of necessary if you ask me.â
âI've noticed.â Dean mumbled âDon't worry...â he smirked before adding âWe're got plenty here.â
âAre there any spells to shut someone up though? (Y/n)'s told us you've got all kinds of books here.â
A smile had started to grow on Dean's lips but before he could get to reply, another voice spoke up. One that made him notice that the reason that Richie was so silent was because he was picking at the old weapons that were in the walls of the room.
âOh my god, Richie put that thing down!â it was again the shortest kid he'd heard before âYou don't even know how old it is, or where it's been or how it's been used! Seriously, have you ever heard of a staph infection? That thing could-â
âEddie, relax. Not everything in here can cause an infection you know.â you told the young boy with a soft smile but he huffed.
âThat's what everyone says until I am the one being proven right. I mean, not to be hypochondriac but (Y/n), this place-â he looked around with wide eyes âNeeds to... be wrecked down and rebuilt from scratch. That door has more rust than I've ever seen in my entire life life and I don't want to think just how dangerous even knocking on it can be. And these stairs, well, they don't seem to be the safest option because one wrong step and it could send you spiraling down to every doctor in Kansas. Thinking of all the possible ways you could fall down and break an arm here has me losing my breath. Or maybe that's because of all the dust that's set all around-â he motioned around him âHere that is making things-â
âOh my, Eddie! No, Eddie, calm down!â you rushed for the boy âEverything's been thoroughly cleaned, I made sure of it. And even more so your room, I promise Eds.â the affection in your voice and face was enough alone to comfort any kid but your words also seemed to do a lot.
âHe's always like this, don't worry.â another boy had come down the stairs âIt's normal for him.â he shrugged, probably after having noticed the wide eyes Dean was sporting âOh and I'm Ben by the way.â
âHey Ben! It's Dean.â he shook the hand the boy offered âNice to meet- Oh hey, nice T-shirt!â he grinned when noticing the band on the boy's shirt which only made him smile even more widely and mumble a soft thanks. Well, two out of three wasn't bad so far. The kids could be good after all.
The hunter blinked several times when he heard Eddie speak or ramble â or both â some more, remembering the casual tone in Ben's voice, before finally asking âIs the kid always stuck on 1.25?â
â1.25?â he tilted his head.
âYeah, you know like-â Dean shrugged âYoutube. Where you've got options for speed on a video, like 0.75 or normal or 1.25. He's that.â
Stanley and Ben laughed but they didn't get to say a word, not before Richie spoke up âWowâ he said full of mock surpriseâI never thought... that you knew how to use youtube! Did they have it back in your days or something? I mean, how old are you? Are you as old as you look or even more? Did you get a T-Rex as a pet or something? I always wanted-â
âTh-that's e-enough Richie! No-not e-everyone has the patience t-to hear you ta-talk for too long.â
âIt's alright, Dean can get used to anything.â you said with a grin as you and the rest of the kids came down the stairs âAnd as you see these are my lovely little angels!â
âShe's talking about us, that one right there is related to the devil.â Stanley shrugged, pointing at Richie and Dean was sure he was going to enjoy interacting with these kids.
âAs someone who has met the actual devil, I can tell you-â he glanced at Richie with a smirk âAin't far from the truth. The similarities are scary.â
âI mean, for what it's worth, I'm kinda surprised you know how to use youtube too, Dean. I didn't know you were so caught up, good job!â you grinned teasingly and he narrowed his eyes at you.
âSo it is you then.â he muttered but you only chuckled.
âAlright, since we're off to such a good start, let me introduce you to the rest of the Loser's club! You've met Ben, Stanley and Richie and these are Mike, Bev, Eddie and Bill that I've talked to you about... in general, at least.â you introduced the rest of the kids to him, all of whom gave him friendly smiles and waves that made him smile as well âGuys, this is Dean. Dean Winchester, that I've told you so much about!â
âHey everyone.â all of a sudden his nerves were back again âIt's good to meet you all at last.â
âYou'll meet Sam in a while too, but you must know that Dean here helped me with all the food that's on the table right now because of how happy he was to know you'd be here for the holidays!â
The silence that followed seemed to stretch for what felt like hours, even if it was only a couple seconds, until finally someone spoke up. By the speed alone, his eyes instantly fell on Eddie âAlright, I'm just gonna ask because I can't hold it back any longer. (Y/n) said this but only because she didn't say more, we can't know if it's true or not. And I've kinda been really wondering about this. Did you really kill Hitler?â
it took only two more seconds before a grin full of pride formed on Dean's lips âOh you bet!â
It didn't take more than half a second for all of the boy's eyes to widen and them to rush to his side with excitement in their eyes âWa-wait, b-but how di-did you do th-that?â Bill asked and dean grinned.
âI mean... it's a pretty long story. You might get bored.â he said, only to make them shake their heads.
âYou also started the Apocalypse.â Richie pointed out, making Dean's smile fall for a second âAnd if you ask me... that's the cool shit!â only for it to return wider âTell us everything!â and it took no longer than three full seconds for all the boys to take a seat on the table and act like they've been friends for years.
You however, sighed despite the smile on your lips âIt's going to be a long couple of weeks.â
âYou tell me.â Beverly, who was still by your side, sighed too as you both watched the boys. The comfortable silence between you two was only broken a second later by her teasing tone âSo... that's Dean huh?â
âNot you too!â
this took longer than i wanted to, hopefully you donât mind! i wanted to make a big thread of random thoughts that came into my head. i decided to answer this way so i can put a cut and people donât have to read this ridiculously long post!
sunday and beckett pregnancy hcs đ·đ¶âš
beckett knows sunday is pregnant before herself. during her period week he knows her mood changes and how horny she sometimes can be. her period is very regular and he knows what to expect and how to comfort her during it. but, it never came. he was busy himself and didnât realise it until that time of the month was well past them.
âsunday, is everything alright with⊠you know.. your period?â
âwhat do you mean?â
âitâs late. your period is never lateâ
âi think it might be from stress of the games. itâs been madness!â
beckett didnât seem reassured but he let it go. she knows her body better than he ever could. sunday however was starting to have doubts so she buys a pregnancy test and wouldnât you freaking know it⊠itâs positive.
beckett knows when sunday looks at him after she takes that test. he doesnât even have to see it to believe when she says âyou were right⊠iâm pregant, bâ
he hugs her like never before, lifting her off the ground, swaying her in his arms. beckett cries a little, sunday does too. the shock is so big, it wasnât planned but at the same time, very wanted.
âonly beckett harrington to figure out when a girlâs period is lateâ
âhey, itâs a great few days for said beckett harringtonâ
âwell, too bad they wonât be happening for a whileâ
âi wouldnât change a thing, sunday. i love youâ
âi love you t- WHAT IF ITâS TWINS BECKETT????!! we cannot handle two babies at once, can we?? omg mom is going to freak out, and atlas⊠weâre gonna be PARENTS! BECKETT WHY ARE YOU SMILING, YOU NEED TO FREAK OUT WITH ME!!â
they only tell atlas and shreya during the first trimester. sunday knew atlas wouldnât be able to keep the secret from shreya and shreya would figure it out in 10 minutes anyway. theyâre happy to have someone to talk to about it.
itâs the 6 week apointment, sunday had only had a blood test to confirm the pregnancy and passed with flying colors. beckett was with her of course and they were excited to see baby.
the doctor found one baby and they smiled, everything looked healthy and 10 seconds later the doctor is like oh looks like thereâs two! oh my mistake, there are three babies in there!
beckett didnât faint because he was already sitting down. sunday saw her life flash before her eyes.
âwhat?â said both of them
âyeap, three heartbeats, itâs too early to tell if they might be identical or notâ
âare you absolutely sure, doctor?â asked beckett
and the doctor showed them in the ultrassoung machine, three black voids filled with a white dot each and their pulsing hearts. they were having triplets.
i believe pregnancy with multiples need to monitored way more often than ones with just one baby so regular appts for these two. beckett hates missing them but theyâre both busy
beckett would still be studying and working freelance (i still have no concrete idea what his job would be, maybe something with writing/research?)
sunday is told to slow things down so she takes a break from the team before quitting altogetherÂ
i havenât decided on the triplets birthday yet but iâm leaning torwards scorpio/sagittarius season (maybe aries season too?)
beckett and sunday still travel quite a bitÂ
sunday feels pretty great for the most part, i think the hardest part of her pregnancy is towards the end
beck really wanted to take a photo of sunday each week and see the growth of their babies;Â he made a whole album with his thoughts and hopes for their family and gave it to sunday after the babies were born
they travelled to quite a few places during the 9 months, maybe 6 to 7 different locations. sunday being at home more and feeling pretty good during the 2nd trimester they took a few roadtrips to places close to them
atlas and shreya moved out of their shared apt so beckett moved in with sunday right before they found out they were pregnant
i donât know if theyâd be married at this point in time or not
they would have been living together before getting pregnant, sunday would spend most of her time at beckettâs place but she wasnât âofficiallyâ moved in because she travelled quite a bit due to thief and the gamesÂ
to me, for some reason, their lives seem hectic and busy af after graduating, everything happens at once for them
getting signed with a thief team, beckett getting acknowledged for his skills and scoring independent jobs and working on his masters, sunday is travelling all the time
i feel like beckett one day, in the midst of all the business, while they were still half asleep in bed was just like âmarry meâ and sunday thought she was actually dreaming. there was no way this boy was asking her to marry him right nowÂ
âwhatâ she kinda giggled âmarry meâ he sounded so serious she woke up and sit up
they stayed in silence just staring at each other for a while until they started smilling and the thought really sank in, it was barely morningÂ
âsunday, marry meâÂ
âi think iâll need to hear that again a few more timesâ
did they elope later that afternoon?? WHO KNOWSÂ
back to your scheduled programming of pregnancy with triplets:
sunday got real swolen, painfully swolen at some point in time.Â
weird cravings of butternut squash everything. beckett became quite good at using it in a variety of recipes
sunday really missed her job during her pregnancy and felt quite lost. she felt her only purpose was to carry these kids around and moan back pain every 5 minutes.Â
but she also realised she didnât want to do thief after becoming a mother. that chapter felt like it was closing for her and she needed to take a step foward into a new career path (i have yet to figure it out)
very cranky and moody sunday. she also hated getting advice from her mom on her pregnancy. it would just annoy her
atlas got real good at getting these two away from each other
god atlas as an AUNT wow
she really started to fear sunday at the end of her pregnancy like... the look sunday would give when she was pissed off ... oofÂ
atlas and beckett are the only ones sunday wanted with her when it was delivery time
i imagined it was most likely a c-section? would there be more âinnovativeâ ways in the magick world to give birth??Â
moving on thatâs not important
beckett studies pregnancy yoga intensely so he can teach sunday
tmi.. or nsfw... sex is pretty funÂ
sunday thinks it will be 2 girls and one boy, the girls being identicalÂ
beckett thinks itâs 3 girls
they restored their baby blanket atlas found and used it in the nursery
sunday and beckett did not find out the sexes of the babies until birth
(it was a bet. sunday was actually the one that was DYING to find out and lost)
shreya was the only one that guessed correctly (2 boys 1 girl)Â
bougie ass baby gifts from shreya. special one of a kind super gentle lotion, shampoo. baby shoes, oils and butters for stretch marks, blankets with their names on it, literally you name it
thereâs something about baths... sunday would never take them but it became nighttime ritual at some point
beckett is very aware of peopleâs names now that he has to name 3 kids and is VERY opinionatedÂ
he even starts to question his name, sundayâs name, everyone else around him âyou have a such a weird name sunday, what was theia thinkingâ âCOME SAY THAT TO YOUR PREGNANT WIFEâS FACE, HARRINGTONâ
sunday needs to pull a break on that for a while so they stop throwing name ideas for a few weeksÂ
they agree on marlow first, sunday suggests it and beckett isnât much of a fan until he finds himself using it in his head. when he sees his baby boy he knows itâs his nameÂ
they had one unexpected visit from the sources to congratulate sunday and beckett on the pregnancy and marriage. iâm pretty sure gemma called seleneâs wood attunement.
sunday does not want anyone touching her belly but sheâs kinda anxious about it so atlas is always ready to fight somebodyâs hand off
god can u imagine these sisters coming this far in their lives, sunday is going to be a mother, atlas an aunt how happy atlas is to be able to see a future she thought would be lost after so many years of running from raife and the heartache and loss. I AM EMOTIONAL.Â
doting aunt atlas like she SPOILS these kids to death
katrina might have a kid of her own at this point in time, since sheâs older than beckett? sunday would appreciate her advice way more in comparision to her motherâs. (i could also see katrina not wanting kids but i donât know if she has hinted either way)
beckettâs family has been a bit harsh when it comes to sundayâs job but she wins everyone over eventually so they do find themselves falling in love with her. they find sunday so warm and kind and easy to talk to. his parents are so happy to be grandparents of three kids no less, and are prepared to spoil them to bits.Â
i can see her with the harringtons spending the summer together, his mother talking about when beckett was a baby himself which seemed not that long ago.Â
the boys share a room in their grandparentâs house while selene has one of her own once theyâre about 5/6 years old. while theyâre toddlers, they do sleep in the same room together.Â
they really do dote on these kids. beckett has never seen them this affectionate before in his life.Â
beckettâs father and jett bond very nicely. both are a fan of sports.Â
zeph and griff give sunday and beck so many delicious homecooked meals they can freeze for after birth but also to eat whenever they want.Â
zeph got the tendency of showing up like âmy abuela cooked extra this week so i thought iâd give you some for dinnerâ
they do not complain once. the meals are delicious
zeph really enjoys babysitting the kiddos, especially as they get a bit older and start to waddle around, speaking gibberish you understand but not really. the kids are really impressed by his water tricks. bath time is a mess (with him and in general tbh)
beckett and sunday have one big fight during the pregnancy. sunday is feeling lost and weird about her career, job, path in general and beckett always has something to say instead of just listening which frustrates them both. they fight all day the first time but canât go to sleep angry so they talk it out during the night. neither of them has much sleep but they settle things down, beckett just listens and explains where he came from, apolagizes, sunday too, they figure it out in the end. this comes up again but sunday just points it out to him what heâs doing and heâs like âmy bad, babeâ.Â
sunday eats pretty much plant-based during the pregnancy apart from having a few eggs here and there. she has this aversion of meat, it sounds disgusting to her (marlowâs influence?)Â
beckett sings to the babies a lot, sunday falls asleep to it often
i can see beckett having choir lessons when he was younger and actually being a pretty good vocalist
atlas buys baby things ALL THE TIME. goes jogging, sees a random store âoh sunday i found this dumb ass onesie, hereâ âi saw this arylu plushie and thought the kids would like itâ âthis muslin cloth has cat butts on it, let me get that 1 for each kidâ sunday literally doesnât need to buy anything because everyone is buying them baby stuff 24/7Â
shreya planned the baby shower where they basically just asked for diappers and ended up with high-tech baby stuff, beckett was actually pretty intrigued by some of them
massages. everyone that goes into that apt just sees beckett rubbing some lotion on sunday and massaging some area in her body, feet, back, legs. towards the end itâs a must if sunday wants to walk around for more than 20 minutes without being in pain.
if you finished reading this, congratulations! here, have a đ.
this is already so freaking long and even though i feel like i could get some more hcâs going iâm gonna stop here and save any that i find important for another post. let me know what you guys think and donât mind the typos too much IâM SICKđ
WIP DVD Extra: Andras Kiralyâs Terrible Guide to Hungary
yes lads itâs the celebration that i do when i reach over 40 followers for some reason
So hereâs what happened: I was reading Dave Barryâs Only Travel Guide Youâll Ever Need (because apparently I am a fifty-year-old man), and I got an idea, and then I wrote some nonsense.
All of this is based on research I did from that one time I went to Hungary and at a veggie burger that was just fried cheese.
A Guide to Hungary, circa 1873
Hello, and welcome to Hungary, the finest nation in Europe.
I have to be honest: ever since I moved to Vienna for school, Iâve spent a considerable amount of time telling my friends completely incorrect facts about my homeland. This is for two reasons: one, itâs funny, and two, I can usually get away with it. Itâs not as though any of my friends from the opera company have ever been to Hungary themselves, much as they keep promising me theyâll visit.
But due to this web of amusing lies Iâve woven, no one Iâve ever interacted with actually knows any true facts about Hungary (I assume), and so I am taking it upon myself to record several genuine facts about where I grew up. Please note that although I am attempting to be truthful, some points may be inaccurate because I did not pay attention in primary school, because I was too busy thinking about arpeggios.
History
Hungary was invented at some point in the past when a group of nomadic warriors from the Far East arrived in Europe, realized there was not yet anywhere to get a good meal, and parked their horses in the Great Plains. They did an assortment of perfectly ordinary things like conquering Bulgaria and wearing pointy hats before King Stephen took over and told everyone to behave themselves and start going to church.
Several more interesting historical things happened after this but none of them were particularly relevant to yours truly until 1811, when Franz Liszt was born.
Recreation
The national sport of Hungary is arguing. My family is excellent at this. As an example, two of my sisters have had an argument going for six straight years about whether that man in the market was really the Prime Minister or not.Â
Things to See
Budapest is a beautiful and lively city containing culture, excitement, and rude waiters. Much like Paris. However, unlike Paris, most of our food is fried and therefore much better (more on this later).
The intrepid traveler will find many amusements to fill his time on both sides of the river, including looking at the castle (but probably not being allowed in), climbing up the hill to the observatory for some pleasant views, and sitting in the Turkish baths with a bunch of old men clad in towels. This may sound mildly awkward at best, but my father swears itâs done wonders for his lungs.Â
The only other place I have ever been is my grandmotherâs house in Siofok. If you enjoy being shouted at by mustachioed old ladies about your haircut and then being fed shocking quantities of sausages, you will have a very good time there. Another benefit of visiting the area is that itâs an opportunity for young children to learn to swim, much like I did when I was five years old and my father threw me in Lake Balaton.
Language
Donât be fooled by the rumors: Hungarian is actually a logical and very beautiful tongue and not, as my wife puts it, âa nonsense language invented by Attila the Hun to confuse enemy soldiers.â (What does she know about it, anyway? Her first language is German, which was invented by a cat clearing its throat)Â
Of course, in the cities, many of the people you meet will speak German and other small, useless languages like English. But learning a few Hungarian phrases will enable you to communicate with many interesting people and, more importantly, earn my fatherâs respect.
Believe me, if you plan to spend any time on Szerdahelyi Street, the latter is crucial.
Food
Iâm going to be completely honest here: Hungary has the best food in Europe if not the entire world. After youâve eaten just one meal here you will never be able to eat your home countryâs food again. When I went to music school in Vienna at the age of sixteen I spent the first month unable to taste any of the food I ate because by my standards it was bland.
Some of the best dishes that you can find in the restaurants or attempt to make in your own home include:
Goulash: The Superior Stew. Is it technically just beef, potatoes, carrots, and spices? Yes. Is it so delicious that when I go a few weeks without having it I cease to function? Also yes. The absolute best recipe for goulash is Paâs, but unfortunately I cannot give it to you, because it is a secret.
LĂĄngos: Take some flatbread. Fry it. Put sour cream on top. Delicious. In the words of our downstairs neighbor, Mrs. Farkas: âYouâve got to have another serving of lĂĄngos, my dear, itâll put meat on your bones. I swear you get thinner every time you come to visit, donât they feed you in Vienna? Those Austrians wouldnât know a good meal if it bit them on the nose.â
Words to live by for all of us.
HalĂĄszlĂ©: Also known as Fishermanâs Soup. My gran makes this and while Iâm not exactly sure what kinds of fish are in it, I know there are a lot of them. HalĂĄszlĂ© follows the usual Hungarian rule of cooking which is: if itâs not bright red, you made it wrong.
Conclusion
I trust this guide has been helpful, and if not, I trust that you will not blame my primary school teacher Mr. Szabo for failing to deliver any information to my memory. He tried his best, he really did.
